Bev starting shouldn't matter, but bev finishing is a huge issue

Lin and harden are the closers in the last 5 minutes(in non blowout games)

COnley had his way with Bev. Even Calethas lost him and hit a jumper at some point. Don't remember all the "bonehead" Lin plays early on. Early on he came in and immediately stole the ball and dished to DMo for the dunk.

This is typical analysis, Lin makes bonehead plays and Bev's plays, well not boneheaded in your view, he just didnt get love from the refs!! No, call a spade a spade, trying to pick Mike Miller's pocket from 23 feet away with the shot clock running down is a bonehead play!

If the situation was reversed, Lin would be getting roasted, who even put Bev in a position to take the last shot? Terrible all around.

Can the staff ever come up with something clever like this?? No way!

    From another team's forum:

"every time I watch a Rockets game, I'm confused as to what Beverley brings to the table. He's supposed to be a 3and D guy. He shoots badly and opposing PGs routinely run right by him. His best contribution is injuring opponents."

Everyone sees it but Rockets fans and Lin haters.

THIS!! I Love Bev for what he brings and I am fine with him starting - but for late game scoring situations....

THe bottom line is it comes down to trust, and they trust Bev will do nothing to screw things up. Granted it means he won't try to make a play on offense but they're ok with it and they'd rather have that then Lin which would be considered playing with fire.

If Lin played the way Bev did today he would've checked out of the game in the 3rd and never come back.

Nobody put Beverly in that position. Mchale ran a play where the ball got double with the player 1 pass away and 2 passes away (Beverly) covered.

If he passes to Howard, he gets fouled and has to shoot free throws.

The story of this game is Mchale, not Beverly or Lin.

u believe incomplete stats that don't account for 1/4 of an entire game does not compare wins vs losses against what teams were these stats taken and on what schedule
Lin started on one of toughest road schedules
I could start vs the bucks for 13 games and have great stats with the starters

I can't wait til the trade deadline so we can move Asik and whomever and get more players on this team. Gotta have another playmaker on the squad and another shooter. Been some horrible shooting by the whole team lately.

    Good shooting tonight Parsons.

Agreed and 1 more thing again, how do you get this type of talent together and not bring in a better coach. There is no excuse for him still being employed in Houston, none at all.

McHale didn't manage this game well at all. This loss is on him. As someone who believes the Rockets benefit with Beverley starting and Lin coming off the bench, tonight with Beverley struggling Lin should have got more minutes.

I'm not sure you understand the stats displayed in the article. You should read it.

When AB was a starter and Lowry was a bench player, I could tell that Lowry was the better player and I argued for it. Lowry eventually took AB's spot due to an unfortunate injury, but the writing was on the wall for a long time already. When Dragic and Lowry were scrapping for the starter position, my gut said Dragic was the better player overall, and he ended up keeping the spot.

Between Bev and Lin, Bev is better when both Harden and Howard are clicking and all he has to worry about is hitting the spot up shot and defending his man. Lin is better when he has the ball in his hands and can attack the basket relentlessly while playmaking, it doesn't matter if Harden and Howard are clicking or not, but he can get them their shots if he has the greenlight to play-make. Overall, I feel Lin is the better player, but Bev fits better when both our Stars are doing their thing.

All stats aside, my gut says Lin is the better player, but we really should have kept Dragic in the first place since he's far superior to Lin. Or it could be the coaching, since Hornacek seems like a genius while McHale just seems to tell his team to play harder in timeouts.

you have to understand there may be a lot of reasons why people are blaming bev. some may be right and some may be wrong. however there is one reason people have in this case is his shooting tonight. as you mentioned, shooting is not his main strength for the team and we should not rely on it. I agree with that, however, when he took 11 shots and made 1 only, then his shooting cannot be used as an excuse at least not for tonight's game.

If your shooting is not the main strength but you still take 11 shots and make only 1. that will be hard for fans to accept or agree with it when a game is lost. I guess that's the main reason why people blame him for losing this game. If this game had been won or his shooting had been up, let's say 6 out of the 11, the blaming would have not taken place on him.
