The Rockets get talked about a lot on ESPN and its affiliates.

The team's style of play is not popular among most fans and is viewed as gimmicky. I can't blame them for being kind of put off by it and somewhat skeptical that it will work against good, prepared teams they'll meet in the playoffs.

They spend half their time talking about the raptors (3 openly stated their raptor fandom). Comeon.

How in the world did the "Starters" or the "Basketball Jones" ever gain popularity anyways?? I've tried to give these guys a chance, but geez... holy crap they are boring as hell, and not funny at all.

Their basketball analysis, if you can call it that, is basically "DeMar Derozen, almost had a triple double.... which is really good"... and then everyone agrees with him on the set, then the guy in the flannel shirt (joke- thats all they ever wear) yells "Heeyyy ohhh" and we are supposed to laugh or something.

I get it. Turner is trying to compete with Grantland and Bill Simmons by bringing in these nerds, but its not doing anything for me. Sorry guys. You seem like nice dudes, and I'm glad you stay up and watch Kings vs Cavs games but your boring.

We lead the league in free throws which isn't fun to watch at all for casual fans IMO. We also haven't made a statement this year. We're around as good as people expected.

Never follow the television viewing advice of anyone who confuses "your" and "you're."

The TBJ podcast was really good. I found it very funny and they're much more informed then most media analysts. Maybe their humor doesn't translate as well to TV (I haven't actually watched their show this year, just listened to the podcasts).

Yeah someone who forgets punctuation on a contraction on an internet forum.... ouch... guy must be an idiot.

Sorry Kelly. Its my internet opinion. I enjoy your work for the most part, and the starters all seem like cool guys, but I don't enjoy listening to the Starters personally.... I'm not going to lie to you just because they are your friends.

However, I will say that compared to TNT crew, they sound like the Einstein's of basketball.

I apologize if I mistakenly used a Run-On sentence in my post as well.

I remember alot of people being avid listeners to TBJ which is why I'm sort of shocked at how these guys really are as well regarded as I wonder why all these other well regarded bloggers like this HPBasketball guy, Nate Jones, Kevin Pelton, HoopsCritic, and our very own Kelly Dwyer got where they are in the basketball world.

Again most of them are much more knowledgeable and entertaining than the actual "experts" we see on TV, but it kind of makes me think....wow... maybe I got into the wrong field and need to start a blog myself.

    More power to you guys.

lol that's exactly how I feel about them. Gave these guys a ton of chances when they were the TBJ and couldn't get into them. Thought the radio drops were pretty stupid.

That should give you an indication about Dwyer's work. Has to correct people on technicalities because he is full of hot air and little substance. His arrogant attitude can probably be attributed to his misguided sense of thinking that he belongs in the same sentence as Woj and other respected sports columnists. Pay no attention to him.

Anyone of the guys that disliked it or liked TBJ more still watching?
Watchin it daily and feel like it's back to the TBJ feeling, they finally seem really comfortable with their new roles and nothing seems forced anymore.

Also have to respect that they're the only show where the guys try to watch all the games and talk about every team.

I don't watch it, but I listen to most of the podcasts. The podcasts aren't as good, IMO, with out Matt Austin in the mix, but its still enjoyable to me.

Not a guy, but I watch it every day. ;) I mostly watch for the reason you mentioned -- they watch every game and don't favor one team over another. The love affair they seem to have with Bev and T. Jones doesn't hurt either.

I can blame them. Most fans views of the Rockets are either ignorant or reactionary.

I just started listening to their podcasts. Its not bad, but I feel like it's almost missing something, for the life of me I don't know what it is. Eh, it's better than listening to Mary Jo Foley, so it's got that going for it.

They may not be the best in analysis, but what else is out there on podcast that have a show on a daily (weekdays at least) basis that tries to cover all teams played the previous night? I don't watch their TV show, but while driving, I want to catch up on NBA news.

ESPN's NBA Today podcast with Bruce "I am not a dirty player" Bowen suck @ss.

Some of their acts are kind of childish and not funny at all, but overall, it still have some entertainment value; unlike Bruce's.
