Don't draft Quarterbacks who wear gloves!!! Otherwise you'll end up with guys like this: Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler
Despite how it sounds, he wanted a good relationship with the coach wherever he went. He wanted a coach who was going to help him become a better man....ie, why he chose Louisville, and had they not gotten rid of Randy Shannon, he would've been a Hurricane. He actually DIDN'T want to be heavy in the spotlight.
Ugh.....SMH, there is a difference between QB's who wear gloves in cold or wet weather and QB's who wear gloves because they have small hands, try to keep up.
The issue isn't, and has never been the gloves. The issue is the size of the kid's hands and that will be answered at the combine. As I said, if he measures at least 9 inches, the talk will stop for good. Also, it's still possible to be a decent passer with small hands, it's just a lot harder and QB's are prone to being inconsistent with their accuracy at an NFL level if they have small hands. Vick and Warner are two that both had streaks of good to excellent QB play despite their small hands (Warner being the top end of QB's with small hands, Vick being closer to what people expect from QB's with small hands). In fact Kurt Warner could be a fairly decent comparison for Teddy B the more I think about it.
I"m glad you brought that up, because Kurt Warner and Big Ben both wear gloves in all conditions, in the picture of Peyton, he's in Hawaii, how cold could it possibly be there? And Philip Rivers is in San Diego, it wasn't cold there either. Tom Brady may have been cold, maybe not, but who cares, that's not the point; the fact is other QB's have done it, and others will continue to do it without problem. I'm not trying to say it's not a concern, I'm just trying to make sure we understand what we're complaining about. We're complaining that Teddy B uses gloves, so he might have small hands, which means he may fumble a lot, which isn't a good thing. But wait, he only lost 2 fumbles in his entire career......so what's the complaint exactly.....Blake Bortles (who everyone thinks is this Mammoth of a man) fumbled more than that this past season alone! And in a run 1st, power offense, Andrew Luck fumbled more than Teddy B did as well..... People are not wanting him because he apparently shows pre-mature signs of a fumbling problem, yet he's never shown a fumbling problem....I just don't get it....
Would have been good to see how he would perform on the field under a bigger spotlight with the pressure and outside scrutiny that goes along with being a big time quarterback instead of staying low key and going up against practice squad defenses. Because that's what he's going to have to deal with at the next level rather he likes it or not. I'm not saying he can't handle it but it would have been good to see a QB deal with that pressure when considering taking them with the #1 overall pick.
All the limelight games have been the best Florida must have been a practice squad defense Miami was a practice squad defense in your mind I imagine
1. For the majority of Peyton Manning's career, he hasn't worn gloves because he doesn't have small hands so finding a picture of him or any other QB who doesn't have small hands with gloves shows nothing. 2. The issue has never been about wearing gloves. Almost all QB's wear gloves at least sometimes. The issue is small hands because if you have small hands, it's harder to grip the ball which can lead to accuracy problems. 3. To address this specifically, it's not even about fumbling, it's about accuracy. You don't need the best accuracy in the world to beat AAC defenses but you do to beat NFL defenses. You can't have lapses in accuracy due to the ball slipping out of your tiny hands. 4. I've said many times this might end up being nothing but we won't know till the combine.
Kurt Warner also had fumbling issues and turnover issues as well. Vick had his fumbling and turnover issues also. Hand size may not be the end all be all though especially if he is still effective with gloves. Kurt and Vick had stronger arms to make up for their hand size to allow them to drive the ball down field without receivers having to slow down during their routes and or come back for balls. I think that will be more of an issue with Teddy than his hand size.
Miami defense suxked. Florida had fell off the map by the time they made it to the bowl game. UH was actually the best defense he has faced and he was mediocre.
Well you are certainly right there. There isn't any one thing that is the "end all be all" it's a combination but small hand size is something that would be a potential "red flag" but it certainly wouldn't necessarily doom him as a passer. The part of a potential Warner comparison that would be troubling is that they have similar body structure about 6'1 (though often listed as taller) and 220 lbs (it's suggested that Teddy is closer to 195) and Warner's career was plagued with injuries which would be a real worry about Bridgewater.
Nothing can be said to you Remii You make excuses for Florida, talking some silly stuff about "fell of the map" I am not gonna bring up UH cause apparently Luck, Elway, Manning also looked mediocre by that logic
What Remii posted is exactly when you know you one the argument, when people start reaching for foolishness like that.
I don't understand what you mean by this, Luck, Elway, and Manning all had pretty rough college schedules.
Yeah, but accuracy (not completion %) translates to the NFL more than almost any other attribute. And even if he's only throwing at practice against the scout team, if he's putting it on the money then I'm ok with his accuracy. Probably seen it all before, but he makes some unbelievable throws in here that alleviate my "accuracy concerns".. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br9-OACeru4
So is it a lack of reading comprehension skills on your part or is it that you just refuse to hear any potential red flags about your newly chosen deity Teddy? I'm not trying to convince anyone that he has small hands, I'm just stating something that has been brought up by numerous scouts as a potential red flag. I've said numerous times that we won't know if it's even an issue till the combine.
