Comparing Bridgewater to Bradford is laughable. Bridgewater is better than Sam in every aspect of the game. Teddy will be special. More like Aaron Rodgers-light at the worse if 'OB properly coaches him up and he works his ass off.
You never really know about a player. I'm for taking TB based on the importance of the QB position and he seems to fit O'Brien's offensive philosophy. He can still be a bust however. Remember that Bradford was also the #1 overall selection and the scouting reports are somewhat similar. http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2010sbradford.php
You can't pay attention to what others say you got to watch for yourself and have at least a little idea of what to look for. Watch this Cincy game... without much pressure TB is picking them a part but when they do blitz he is even better. Watch at 1:15 mark the safety blitzes and Teddy sees it immediately and tosses to the hot reciever. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/NB5xvBbLszk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The announcers say he likes to throw to his friend but it's not that at all. Rogers. at 5'11" is the reciever they like to cheat off of and Teddy is smart enough to find him. Rogers doesn't even run the best route but it doesn't matter there is enough space for TB to expose them. If you watch you'll see he does that several more times in that game. It's no fluke TB completes 82% of his passes when blitzed. 82% per cent, who does that even in the pros much less college. It should be illegal what he does to blitzing defenses. All you have to do is watch the KC game and see Keenum can't do that. The same play TB made easily at the 1:15 mark happened to Case in that game and Lestar Jean ran a better route Case never saw the blitz and was sacked. He missed at least one other that game. After words he admitted those sacks were on him. He should have thrown to the HOT receiver. That's what stopped Keenum from having more success. He couldn't read defenses. You absolutely will not have that problem with Bridgewater. He is light years ahead of Keenum and any other QB coming out of college. To Keenums credit he never had to do it in College and he is a smart kid and I expect he will learn and get better. But TB's got it going in. Credit to his coach for teaching him. Credit to Teddy for picking it up so well. And if he is as smart as many say he is, he will only get better. That's the difference between with talent but not the IQ. Teddy Bridgewater has a lot of talent but he is even smarter than he is talented.
I went through ESPN rankings for the past 10 drafts to see how others were graded, I realize this doesn't tell us much if anything but I found it interesting. Aaron Rodgers 99 Andrew Luck 99 Alex Smith 98 Matt Leinart 98 JaMarcus Russell 98 Matt Ryan 98 Vince Young 97 Brady Quinn 97 Sam Bradford 97 Robert Griffin III 97 Jay Cutler 96 Matthew Stafford 96 Blaine Gabbert 96 Mark Sanchez 95 Ryan Tannehill 94 Brian Brohm 93 Cam Newton 93 Teddy Bridgewater 93 Blake Bortles 92 Chad Henne 90 Jake Locker 90 Johnny Manziel 90
Disagree. It's not a good sign for someone who is only reading ESPN's evaluations, and that is all. Every team will do their homework on these guys. Their homework is going to looks drastically different than ESPN's.
In "unbiased defense" of ESPN, QB is hands down the most difficult position to project and grade. There are a lot of things that these grades don't take into account (that they should). I think you should automatically be droppped 20-25 points if you get drafted by Cleveland, Jacksonville, or Oakland! But seriously, it doesn't think about work ethic, coaching staff, organizational stability, off the field focus, etc., All this list shows is, who did have the best POTENTIAL to be good. I think this list also helps to evaluate properly, who are the biggest busts at the QB position....Thanks Matt Leinart
Who cares who it is. The guy just shows poise in th pocket and quick release. This will translate to NFL. He will still have a quick release and of course will have better talent around him in the nfl
Well most intelligent fans know that who you are playing against matters. You beat up on Eastern Kentucky? Congratulations, that proves nothing. One of the best defenses Teddy faced in his entire college career was UH....so it's not all that surprising that he looked great against all of the Johnny Buckwheat Jr College type teams he faced most of the time.
I hated Bradford coming out. With that said, Bradford was bigger with a way bigger arm. I like Bridgewater a lot more than I did Bradford but Bradford has some tools.
These rankings make no sense, forget the Bridgewater ranking Cam Newton at 94 Tannehill at 94 Manziel even in the 90s Alex Smith 98 Matt Leinart 98 Blaine Gabbert 96 I could go on, these are about the worse ratings/rankings I have ever seen
Only people with no clue of what they are talking about say what you just said... No actually NFL scout has even considered that
What you don't get is the concept...Besides if you watched the game you recognize that he had a man in his face almost every drop back
