    Popularity.
Leaving Orlando for the Lakers? Winner, wants to join Kobe and Pau for a ring.
Leaving the Lakers for Houston? Quitter, doesn't have what it takes to win.

I don't know why people are surprised. Hack-a-Dwight and Harden free throws is not exactly exciting/fun to watch on national TV. And won't endear fans to Dwight and Harden.

And looking at Toyota Center, if even Houston fans are not interested in Rockets that much, why would people expect fans at national level would vote for them?

What would happen is that anyone who thinks Lin will get in based on fan votes at #4...Lin fans or Rockets fans...are completely ignorant to the All-star process.

TMI, dude. I didn't need to know that your 'cac' is rejoicing about Kevin Love.

Oh c'mon...Kevin Love is having a great year. Most importantly, he's not injured. It's well deserved over Dwight. Dwight will probably get in as reserve anyways.

Yes, it simply goes 3 for frontcourt and 2 for backcourt.

People are coming off pretty petty here. Griffin is having a great year as well as Love. Griffin basically has been playing point forward since Paul went down and was getting double doubles before that.

Now that I think about it, the fan voting did pretty well this year...

...well except for Kobe. I'm pretty sure Lin votes are super majority Taiwanese votes. Actually Kobe votes are probably majority Chinese.

Sorry but it isn't "well deserved over Dwight"... Love's defense has eroded to the point that it has a huge part of why the Wolves suck.

Yeah, but well assumed Kobe would start over Harden.

    I would go

    CP3
    Harden
    Durant
    Love
    Howard

Love was easily the hardest choice. Almost went with LMA, and Griffin is more deserving than most fans here admit.

Both those players have a huge fanbase. Lin isn't just purely Taiwanese votes, nor is Kobe just Chinese. Lakers fans go across the globe, just like ethnic Chinese are.

There are so few deserving centers because the NBA has basically marginalized the position with stupid rule changes and an emphasis on perimeter play. Seriously, how bad is the product the NBA is putting on the floor when they need to change the all star voting because there are no centers.

Right now the league is being poorly ran. Stern has been a great commissioner but his time has passed. The league needs changes or it will be further marginalized.

This is voting for the All-Star game which means it's about stats and popularity.
Your criteria fits if you're voting for MVP. By your standards, Melo should not be an all star this year.
