Yeah, if by "jacking up" you mean averaging 17ppg 5 rpg and 3.5 assists all while shooting 50% field goal percentage, then sure he jacks up a lot of shots.
Did I say parsons jacks up shots? He asked what system the rockets run and thats what we run. Parsons has a high IQ and plays the right way, but that doesnt mean his skill set is greater than jeff green because its not.
If Green could eliminate almost all of his crappy mid range shots and either attack or shoot 3s like Parsons then he would be a lot better off. But he's been in the league awhile and he still hasn't done it and he is still a bad mid range shooter. J Green C Parsons
Jeff Green is the 1st option on a lottery team. Parson is the 3rd option on a team with 2 superstars. The looks Parsons gets are NOT the same looks Green gets. Simple basketball
He had pretty much the same shot chart in 2012-2013 and over his entire career. What's your excuse now? He is a poor mid range shooter and he takes a ton of mid range shots.
No excuses. Your comparing apples & oranges. Chandler Parsons plays next to James Harden, Jeff Green plays next to Jeff Green. Parsons will NEVER be a number 1 offensive option. He'll never face the attention Jeff Green faces. Not to say Green's a superstar, but he's definitely more of a threat than Chandler Parsons offensively. Put Green in a fastbreak offense, next to Harden & Dwight, his efficiency will go up (just like Parsons). Jeff Green is easily the better player. Feel free to watch somebody outside the Rockets
It's like you don't even recognize that Green has played next to Durant and Westbrook and still couldn't get close to Parson's TS%.
Where was Parsons superstars in his great rookie season??? Plain and simple, Green would not be replacing anyone in our starting line-up if he were to come here.
You do realize the sonics/thunder were trash there first couple years right? KD was no where near the player he is today and we all know the progression Russell has made over the years.
Well to be fair, last year after Rondo went down and their offense started clicking, his efficiency was pretty good. If we adjust for 36 minutes a game, those numbers are even more impressive than Parsons' this year. He played good defense during that long stretch as well. It's not unimaginable that he could be Parsons-efficient on this Rockets team. He had good long stretches of great play where he did look like a very good 3rd option. Replace Parsons as a starter, I don't think so. I see this more as the Pacers acquiring Scola, except Green is pricier but still young. You instantly make your bench elite, turn a weakness into a major strength. You need 8-9 guys in the playoffs. Right now you have Garcia and Casspi high in your rotation. They actually combined for more minutes than Harden or Dwight this year, which is crazy for a contender. Replace that with Jeff Green, and you are a much better team. Now I understand the Love/Aldridge/Rondo hopes. But that's so far away. Still two summers, two chances to win a title. You never know what happens two summers from now. Those players aren't a guarantee to join, and they aren't a guarantee to win. And how long did the Yao/TMac window last. In my view, when you have a contender, you have to contend, so I wouldn't care that Jeff Green is maybe slightly overpaid. He makes the team much better and more likely to win a title. And you still can accumulate assets, picks and maybe trade for someone. Maybe it's not Love, maybe it's Kyrie Irving or John Wall when they get bored of losing. Let the Knicks and other miserable franchises bet everything on free agency several years from now. There's only 1 title every year, and contenders should do their best to contend.
Yeah they did suck for a couple years, but they won 50 games in 2009-10. Durant was averaging like 30 ppg. The next year before they traded Green they were on pace to win like 53 games and Durant was at 28 ppg and Westbrook was 22 & 8. So again...I would love to see Green on the Rockets. I think he would be a great fit, but his contract sucks.
Good post. I agree with the bolded part that he certainly would help and your point about windows not always being open as long as we would hope. He may become more efficient on the Rockets, but the only way he would is if he eliminates all those mid range shots he has taken over his career. He doesn't have a Brandon Bass jumper. His mid range game is just bad. Maybe in Houston he would realize his potential since we emphasize 3s or driving. However, if we were to acquire Green doesn't that mean we would likely lose Parsons after next season?
i'm big on Green but at this point, i'd rather get picks for Asik or let him stay as back up in case Howard gets injured. JOnes and DMo are showing positive signs.
