The Rockets are 29-15. Their best start in 17 years, and the 4th best start in franchise history.

The last time the Rockets had a better record at this point was in 1996-1997 when they were 32-12. They lost in the Western Conference Finals.

Before that: 1993-1994 they were 33-11 and they won the NBA Finals.

Before that: 1985-1986 they started 30-14 and lost in the NBA Finals.

One last stat: 1995-1996 they had the same record... 29-15. They lost in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Considering all of the injuries and Asik drama, I'd say they are doing pretty well. It's funny looking at all of the bickering sometimes considering how well they are doing in the context of the franchise history.

That season, they started 21-2, had a stretch with a ton of injuries, but then finished I believe by winning 20 of their final 25 games. The problem is the West was much weaker then compared to now. It was basically us, Seattle(who had the Kemp drama they were dealing with), and Utah. The Spurs were in the midst of tanking for Duncan and the Lakers had just landed Shaq and drafted a 17 year-old Kobe, so they were a few years away.

And one other major factor. The Rockets of 1996-97 were made up of a bunch of veterans(and Matt Maloney). There were the polar opposite of this team. They had a ton of playoff and championship experience, were good in the halfcourt, and (usually)made smart plays late in games. On the other hand, that team was weak on the fast break.

I hope all this team needs is a few tweaks to the roster and some experience in the postseason. But I still think a better head coach would do them wonders.

    Second round: 100%
    WCF: 75%
    Finals: 50%
    Championship: 25%

Yeah, we are currently 5th in the west, 4 games from being out of the playoff picture.

Folks, good record, but let's not over-celebrate. The league is very polarized right now.

Why couldn't we just be in the EAST. With this record we could literally sit our starters for most of the games, without having to worry about losing our seeding. :p

Wrong. We do have a play.

Our play is no play! Why run a play and become predictable?

I heard the Lakers fans wants to relocate this year. So they could still have 1% to make the Playoffs!

What were the standings during those years, were we above 5th seed?

Uh, you mean 7 games, right? The ninth seed Grizzlies have 20 wins and 20 losses. The Rockets are 29 and 15.

1 - It matters more where they are in the standings

2 - With supposedly 2 of the best players in the league signed to the max and near their prime, they SHOULD have a good record
