This is dumb dude. Seriously. Nobody is talking about what round they were drafted in. OOOhh OOOh Mike Vick was drafted in the 1st plus he's black so lets compare Teddy to him... DID YOU EVEN LOOK AT TOM BRADY'S PICTURE? That is the definition of a slight frame, toothpick like if anything. My point was that players fill out in the league no matter what round they were drafted in, how many years they sat on the bench, or what team they played for. You take one topic and take it 50 million directions that make no sense whatsoever. I'm done.
Strahan drafted 2nd round. Umenyiora drafted 2nd round. Tuck drafted 3rd round. You can pick up good defensive linemen outside of the first round, and your example proves that. Eli drafted 1st overall pick in 2004.
(Falcons GM Thomas) Dimitroff high on Clowney, top prospects Jadeveon Clowney (6-6, 274), defensive end, South Carolina: "Who? When I first heard that he was the best that people had seen in 20 years or whenever, I was skeptical because I never fall into the trap of comparing people over that many years. But obviously, he is an incredible talent with wild upside. He’s going to be a very big contributor on a football team from Day 1. We all know that. The league knows that. He has the potential to be one of the marquee-type pass rushers."
Actually you responded to someone who SPECIFICALLY said they didn't think Teddy was draft worty at 1-1 because of his size (and I'm sure that includes Johnny as well). You're pulling up guys who weren't even considered as a #1 pick except for Rodgers and he didn't touch the field until he got bigger... And Cam is black too but you didn't see me bring him up _ But yea, players can get bigger I get your point.
Miami and Florida Irregardless Flacco was unproven then, Phil Simms was unproven as well The competition argument is a farce
I'll happily take Clowney. Everyone has seen what he can do and even though he half assed it last year I think that is somewhat understandable. I'll be happy with Bridgewater too. Just no Broyles
Next time I reply to someone I'll simplify it for you and leave in the text that I'm replying to. Kinda like what you do when you try to avoid the point and start picking and choosing your argument bases. Kinda like what you did just now. But thanks this was pointless, I'm wasting my time because you seem to get it, but then you sorta don't. We know.
I think its a myth that defense wins championships. We had the best defender in the league this season and won 2 games. Its been a long time since a team won it all without an above average QB (Dilfer).
I prefer the great QB. Great QB's continuously win you big games. They also can't be neutralized consistently.
Back in the day you had to be stacked at literally every position to win with a qb like Dilfer. Now you have to be stacked but also have a qb that makes plays
There's no myth to it. The problem with this method is that it takes time. The Buccaneers took generations to get it straight within their entire organization before they became the defense that demolished the Raiders in the Super Bowl. The Ravens had one of the best defenses in the NFL from 2002 up until last year. They only won one Super Bowl in between that time frame until Joe Flacoo became all world beater in the playoffs this last season. It's much easier for teams to reach the playoffs and have a chance for a SB when their quarterback is all worldly, but of course an awesome defense to boot would not help at all. Again that just takes a little longer to construct. Ask the Seattle Seahawks fans.
One defender doesn't make for a great defense even if that one defender is the best in the league. Also, have you already forgotten about Average Joe and the Ravens winning the SB just last year?
The Ravens had: Boulware Lewis Woodson McCallister J.Sharper Sam Adams A. Thomas That defense was legendary We don't have anything close to even a old Rod Woodson on our secondary Shannon Sharpe?? J. Ogden???
15 times teams with #1 ranked offense have made it to the super bowl and those teams are 8-7. Teams with the #1 ranked defense have made it to the super bowl 14 times and those teams are 11-3... So more #1 ranked offensive teams have made the super bowl but more #1 ranked defensive teams have won it. But if they keep implementing rule changes to benefit the offense eveutanlly that stat may flip.
I am talking about 2000 ravens About last year 1. Joe Flacco played like a 120 million dollar qb that preseason 2. Defense made timely plays when they needed it
