I would say take him to Perry's Steakhouse off the Katy Freeway close to Taste of Texas...It's about as nice a place as youre gonna find and with one of the best steaks ive had and a extensive wine selection if you like wine (give me a beer anyday). orrrrrr........... Spoiler
I'm sure he'd be happy to see that you took advantage of this opportunity and made smart decisions. If you don't already have 6 months worth of expenses in the bank for emergencies, use this time to put away the rent money into a savings account that you can get to at a moments notice. Use it only for emergencies (instead of credit cards). Look at it this way..if you lose your job, you've got 6 months to find a new job before your money runs out. Car needs major repair, have to fly to New Jersey for a funeral, big medical bill? No problem, you've got the cash in savings.. But when you do use money from the savings, try to replace it as soon as you can.
What savings account do you suggest? I have Chase Bank and savings rate are putrid. I have about $80K just idling in my checkings account. I will use about $20K for a new car but rest is just idle money doing nothing.
This is my plan exactly. I am going to put the money I would be spending on rent into a new account that I do not have access to by card. Or maybe into a CD account? Not too sure yet. I definitely want to save it one way or another.
you get him a hooker. not a five, but a 10 rating hooker! cool brother you have! wish my sister was that nice!
Cool. He'll be happy knowing that your being smart with your money. Make sure its an account you can get to if you need it quickly.
Does this good deed have something attached...ie sleeping with your significant other??? all jokes aside, glad to see your bro being your bro...
I would go to the office and get the money back. Then, go buy lottery tickets with all of it...mostly scratch-offs. I admit I would have taken the gesture badly. I would have probably done everything in my power to stop it. I just can't justify it in my mind. I would always feel indebted. That's what these "giver" types want...is to put you in that spot where they feel like they just did the best thing in the world and like you're in a state of submissive perpetual bliss. They get high off of it. It's like an addiction and an illness. I've been the victim of "giver" type deeds for years. After awhile, it's just like "why can't you stop? wtf did you do?". It's gotten so bad they give you stuff they already gave you years back and then you are stuck with two of everything. lol There's many types of givers, though. I just don't like that feeling in that spot. It's more like a pissy feeling response from me now. I can't explain it. It's my insecurities I guess.
