the new McCarthyism, IRS targetting only conservative group in Hollywood http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/23/u...n-hollywood-under-a-lens.html?ref=todayspaper
Wait - so you don't think a group seeking non-profit status as a 501c3 that can't engage in ANY political activity should be asked about meetings with top politicians? Should the IRS just rubber stamp their application? But unlike most of those groups, which had sought I.R.S. approval for a mix of election campaigning and nonpartisan issue advocacy, Friends of Abe is seeking a far more restrictive tax status, known as 501(c)(3), that would let donors claim a tax deduction, but strictly prohibits any form of partisan activity.
they should be taken to task, it's the right thing to do. it shouldn't take two years, if that part of the article is true.
Time frame depends, in part, how fast the organization responds to requests and information. I'm not saying this is legitimate, but all you have in this article is one perspective - that of the organization. To claim it's a vendetta at this point is no different than all the other now-proven-wrong jumps to conclusions people have made about all these faux-scandals.
The fellow says that his tax records were accessed by "a Delaware Department of Revenue employee named David Smith," not the IRS. The likely source of the records going to the press is this David Smith person, not the IRS. The "lien" that was disclosed was explained by the IRS, which then dropped the subject. Why this guy choses to blame everything that happened to him on the IRS is a mystery to me. He should be blaming David Smith. Sometimes the IRS screws up. It happens. I see no evidence of them targeting this guy, however. If you have that information, I'd like to see it.
Just some closure from the last conservative freakout. no wonder Issa moved on to BENGHAZI!!!! All 39 People Interviewed By Issa Committee Report Zero White House Involvement In IRS Screening A new Democratic staff report released today by House Oversight & Government Reform Committee Ranking Member Elijah Cummings (D-MD) shows months of interviews by Rep. Darrell Issa’s (R-CA) majority staff yielded absolutely no evidence of White House involvement or political targeting in the IRS’s enhanced screening of Tea Party groups seeking tax-exempt status. Though Issa has refused to release the entire transcripts — as he pledged to do in June 2013 — the report contains the public portions of all 39 interviews interviewed by the Republican majority. The report notes that those interviewed include “employees from the Cincinnati and Washington D.C. offices at every level—from Screening Agents to the former IRS Commissioner to the Chief of Staff to the Treasury Secretary,” and “Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and individuals with no political affiliation.” Each of the witnesses was asked whether they had any knowledge of White House involvement or political motivation. None reported any.
most of you probably won't get the reference- essentially, the IRS is claiming that all emails between lois lerner and the white house have been "lost." which would be laughable, were it not so pathetic. Spoiler
