Any time you tie race into anything, you ruined your point. However, Obama definitely has a minor cult of personality thing going on. I don't think you can objectively deny it. Americans are becoming increasingly incapable of separating two ideas from one another. Perception is an extremely powerful tool. Obama is an idea. An idea that the President doesn't have to be a white middle class protestant, that he can be hip and in-touch, and that he is a truly caring person you'd enjoy having dinner with. People have bought into the idea, and are unable to separate it from any negativity towards Mr. President. I understand that most people in D&D are just being inflammatory and goofy. However, I truly believe some people can't rationalize the idea that a person they believe to be like themselves can have negative traits. I also don't think the Republicans can ever win a national election again, unless the Dems just shoot themselves in both feet. Ideology aside, if we're just talking in terms of perception victories, Dems have beat the Pubs up and down over the last 10 years.
Umm... every President has a cult of personality. Clinton was "hip," Reagan was "back-to-basics," Kennedy was the "new generation," Bush Jr. was "continuing the tradition," etc. This is not exclusive to Obama. And many of us have criticized Obama on certain points. But unfortunately, we have to use most of our energy refuting extremist cons who fault President Obama for every single decision, including their choice of guests at the White House. We'd be glad to enter into a rational, normal discussion of the President- but you literally can't do this when one side takes a 100% stand. No President in the history of the U.S. is always wrong- nor, of course, are they always right. But one side tries to paint it as that, so you have what you have. It's nothing new- people have been doing this since the 1700s- but it's more out there now due to the Internet and social media.

I don't think Clinton or either of the Bush boys comes close to a cult of personality. Being really popular and having media slogans isn't the same as having a cult of personality. They chant Obama's name at speeches. He tries to be respectful at a speech after the Benghazi situation and talk about a dead ambassador and you have an audience creaming themselves like they are at an Elvis concert. You have media members that self admit to fawning over him. Obama even cracked a joke about how stressed out Matthews was when his first debate wasn't good this time around. Celebrities fall all over themselves to be around the president. Believe it or not, most presidents are not celebrities in THAT way. Sure they are famous and either popular or infamous, but George Bush was certainly not a rock star and neither was Clinton. None of that is necessarily bad. It's just different.

Apologies, but I have seen only a handful of relevant, astute observations in this whole discussion. However, I do agree with the general premise that, if one criticizes Obama, he or she must, by definition, be a racist. Personally, Obama could be as white as the Kennedys and I would oppose his policies because, in my opinion, those policies are bad for the country.

I was looking for the post(s) to which you refer. I don't believe I referred to Democrats as trying to destroy America, but I do believe the Far Left liberals are (and Obama IMO is a member of the latter group). After all, I am working in the Democratic Party to help move it closer to the center.
