No it's not. If you can't accurately throw a football you're pretty much doomed. It's hard to fix something like accuracy. Decision making can be improved through rigorous film study and repetitions. Plus if you throw it in the right spot but the db makes a great play or the wr runs the wrong route, that's fine. If you throw it behind a wr and right to the db because you aren't accurate that's not fine.
If a quarterback has accuracy issues because of footwork (as in Boyd's case), that can be corrected. I'm not saying the kid can turn into Joe Montana, but I believe it's possible he can be a serviceable QB. Bad decision making issues can follow a quarterback for a lifetime. Farve probably would have more rings if he was a better decision maker. But most ALL quarterbacks deal with accuracy issues and or decision making on some level. We've seen Payton get kicked out the playoffs many of year because of his decision making and or accuracy.
Man, in a perfect world we'd end up with a first round QB AND Sammy Watkins after trading back from the first pick. Unfortunately, that's most likely impossible. Shame. Watkins just has everything going for him. He reminds me of a Cordarrelle Patterson after the catch, but he's a much, much more polished route runner. He's one of the few players that you can look and just tell that he's going to be a star. If we don't pick Bridgewater or Manziel in the first, I certainly wouldn't mind giving Boyd a look later on. He interests me more than any of the other late round QBs.
Don't bring up Patterson please. I'm still bitter about the Texans passing him up for the*"high floor _ low ceiling" guy who was NFL ready... Although I think Hopkins was good, but the Texans passed up on having a "Josh Gordon/ type receiver. And I wouldn't be mad at all if the Texans drafted Sammy #1 overall. I would feel safer with him than Clowney. Look at the great QBs out there and look what they have to throw to... They have guys who can catch and score _ F a red zone.
All of those qbs played elite football in order to get their teams rings... serviceable is Matt Schaub
So you Say Big Ben and Tom Brady was playing elite when they won their first rings...??? You need to do some research on that one dude. And all 5 of those super bowl winning teams were defensive teams... Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson are two more.
Eli Manning was 1 of maybe 3 starting QB's who sucked more than Matt Schaub this year. Flacco may have been marginally better.
I am talking about over a 5-8 year basis combined with the fact of coming through and winning big games, something Schaub couldn't do
Not counting Eli's rookie year _ he's only thrown for less than 15 interceptions twice... And he got hot in the playoffs twice and the Giants defensive line was on fire. Schaub had Kubiak as a head coach. So what do you expect...
YEAH MAN! Defense = makes a serviceable quarterback a good quarterback. Just as a good defense makes a very average quarterback look average. Haha, imagine if we had a Manning or Flacco two seasons ago or last season?! Super Bowl champions, baby!
I believe it had more to do with Kubiak's system, play calling, and lack of preparation than it had to do with Schaub himself. But Schaub always has had a weak arm though, it just got weaker.
