Not true--if a tanking team wanted him and still wanted to tank they could hold him out being injured like he is right now.

This situation is a JOKE. We should have gotten rid of him ASAP after we acquired Dwight.

Now his trade value is next to nothing since all teams know he's quit the Rockets, his sorry ass is probably out of shape, and he's a pouty cry baby.

Morey will have to go DEEP in his rabbit hat to get out of this one...

 

I wouldn't go THAT far. Omer is still a rare commodity - an elite defensive center with elite rebounding. Although, I wish he approached the situation in how DMo dealt with it. Go play and PROVE to other GMs you can still make an impact if not on the Rockets, somewhere else.

What bothers me is that there's no actual timetable for his return. Feigen "keeps hearing" end of this month, but this is all just dust in the wind. A thigh bruise followed by knee swelling should not keep him out for almost 2 months...

At this point, I really don't think Asik will help us anymore. On the other hand, I would be against trading him, unless we did it for an expiring contract who can help us in the playoffs (thus, no Jeff Green or anything else of sorts). I would rather have us not make the WC Finals and sign a big time free agent in the summer and then retain Parsons in RFA. I know Les would be willing to pay $$$ for that, since it would probably put us over the top in the WC.

Meanwhile, let DMo and Greg Smith increase their trade value by playing ~15 minutes a night each. Play them to their strengths: give the ball to DMo in the post and abandon the idea that he can rain 3's like Steph Curry...have Greg Smith be a rebounding machine and a finisher at the rim. A younger Zach Randolph, if you will.

 

He hasn't played in 2 months so his value to a contender for the stretch run is getting lower by the day, and he's making ALOT of money next year (on the books for $15M or something like that) so rebuilding teams aren't likely wanting that either. And if we keep him, we have to eat the cap number for a player who refuses to play for us.

So yeah, we are going to get pennies on the dollar for him now unless we package him with a valuable player like TJones or Parsons.

 

Where is he sitting if he's not on the bench?

 

I really think Asik's injury is pretty serious but the Rockets don't want to reveal too much. It's bad enough his value is dipping because of his limited minutes when he played. He'll really be worth nothing if its showing he has a lingering issue.

 

Actually I'm wondering if the opposite is true. I'm wondering if Morey already has a deal done to a team in the East (Boston, Cleveland, Charlotte) and he's waiting until the deadline in hopes that they lose as many games as possible because he's trading for their pick and he knows as soon as they get Asik they are gonna spurt into the playoffs in the East.

I don't think that would be the reason aswell for morey holding back on a trade, more likely he is trying to hold out for either anouther team to offer something or the original team to panick and offer anouther asset, if Asik is moving to the east it doesn't matter when.
