I was a Korean linguist in the Army for 5 years so know I feel terrible for not putting a single one on there....especially oldboy and I saw the devil. Korean cinema actually has really really good action flicks
I salute you sir. Yeah, it's why I love Korean cinema, the way they infuse western influences with Korean flare. I mean I can come up with top 10 Korean films to be honest.
We need to define "Action Movies". Alien is considered a Sci-Fi although it has plenty of action elements in the movie, etc.
Not in order here goes... 1-Pulp Fiction 2-Django Unchained 3-Kill Bill 4-Rambo 5-Bood Sport 6-Matrix 7-Terminator 8-No Country for Old Men 9-Predator 1 10-Platoon
HELLZ YEAH!!! These are great lists. Will probably be hard to argue 99% of what people add. I know this is not a single movie and a lot of people will scoff at me for mentioning this, but I have a personal soft spot for the Riddick series of films...and am probably one of the extreme minority that really enjoys the second (Chronicles Of Riddick). I also really like the second Matrix movie (not as much as the first)...but the freeway chase scenes is (IMO) one of the most badassed chase scenes ever. And finally, speaking of chase scenes...I know this is not really an action flick but there is a fair amount of action scattered throughout...the entire car chase scene in Blues Brothers is probably in my top five 10 minute spans of a movie of all time. Great car crashing sequences throughout. And finally finally...just saw Point Break listed and wanted to throw thumbs up at that one also.
I'm not really a huge fan of "pure" action movies, I doubt I can come even up with 10, so i'll just do 5. 1. T2 (one of my top 5 favorite movies ever) 2. The Man From Nowhere 3. I Saw the Devil 4. The Terminator 5. The Dark Knight (if superhero movies count)
Alien (first one) is considered a sci-fi/horror movie.... Aliens (second one) is still sci-fi based but but wayyyy more actiony than the first. I consider it in the same category *not the same class* as starship troopers
Really good list but I consider Platoon a historical(ish) drama/Fictional history movie and excluded those from the criteria (Saving Private Ryan, etc.) But seriously awesome list. sorry if i came off as a stickler
Apocolypse now is in my top 10 movies of all time but I consider it much more than just an action flick
I would think an "Action" film is one with sequences that are high in adrenaline, that mostly contain fight sequences with explosions, gunfights, and little to no drama... so with that, some of the Vietnam and World War II movies with all that drama aren't in my list. I hope y'all consider removing those. It's difficult... but... there are at least two Arnold movies and three 2010's movies in my list... I don't know the order and I apologize for listing more than 10: T2 Die Hard Die Hard with a Vengeance Predator Bloodsport Lethal Weapon True Lies The Matrix The Incredibles Robocop Beverly Hills Cop Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome Gladiator Transformers Mission Impossible Siete en La Mira (look it up! ) There are a lot more, but I can't think... I can't narrow it down right now.
