why does there have to be a "consensus" for you to be on board? think for yourself. question authority.
None of this Bridgewater hate was present two years ago, earlier this year prior to the college FB season, or even during the season. The hate only started once it became apparent the Texans would have a grapplehold on that #1 pick. This leads me to believe that the negative criticism is coming from the rest of the country, journalists who are fans of other teams in the NFL and are hoping that the Texans ROYALLY screw up and pass on him for a total lemon like Blake Bortles or substantially inferior talent in Manziel. The rest of you Texans fans that are hating on Bridgewater are either a.) Manziel fans or b.) total saps that believe what the rest of the country tells you about how inferior Houston and Texas are to the remainder of the country, but mostly the Northeast and the West coast. Have some pride people. Support the right man, the smart man. Bridgewater for #1.
and illegitimate reasons. Bridgewater is in a no-win position with regards to the media. Journalists who are fans of other teams are gonna do their best to knock him down in hopes that the Texans stupidly pass him up. Then journalists in Houston are gonna knock him down because they're so enamored with Johnny Manziel that they can't pee in a straight line. At this point nobody is going to praise him except fans that really watch the tape. The next opinion I will be looking at HEAVILY will be Greg Cosell's. He is the guy I most respect when it comes to watching film on quarterbacks. To a lesser extent, Mike Mayock will reflect some of what Cosell says, but in a much more widely respected forum. We'll see what those men have to say.
1. Ted looked very average vs. the only good D he faced all year 2. Ted played against a very weak SoS, so is unproven vs. quality opponents 3. Ted has a small frame all legitimate concerns that have been voiced repeatedly of course there are fanboys who have become smitted with Ted, but the bottom line is that he has question marks.
How is a bunch of generalizations & conjecture spot on? I certainly don't fall under A or B in this scenario. QB's with the frame of a WR, wear gloves on their throwing hands, and didn't play in automatic qualifying conference are always going to be questioned. Bridgewater simply has to put on weight, and have hands that measure out to be larger than expected. He'll have a chance to do just that at the combine. If he does, I'd be on board with the pick. If not, he's FAR from a no brainer at #1. Too many people get offended if everyone doesn't share their view about a player. Getting as much objective information is how you get the best evaluation for prospects. Statements like "Support the right man, the smart man. Bridgewater for #1," is fanboy overconfidence. It's popularity contest mentality, and it's exactly how obvious deficiencies are willingly overlooked.
If we are talking about concerns we can also adress clowney can't we? 1. Did not reach double digit sacks, so much for a "generational" prospect. 2. Openly talked about not "bringing" it for games to save him self. 3. Character issues. Now tell me, why should we opt for Jadaveon over Bridgewater?
Hands argument is a complete farce. I have ten inch hands and they fit around the ball form the laces just like bridgewaters He probably will have 10 inch hands at least
bigtexxx is so desperate not to see Bridgewater in a Texans uniform as the qb I am willing to bet he gauges his eyes out from the sight of it lol Its simple I see how he holds the ball and the thumb to middle positions are the same as mine and I have ten inch hands bigtexxx, whats your beef bro????
Once BOB gets to sit down with Bridgewater and talk football, it is going to be tough to pass on him.
Since whatever pops into your head is reality, why not make them 11" hands? The actual fact is we won't know how large his hands are until they're officially measured at the combine. How big you imagine them to be is useless information.
Does anyone care what hand size Brady, Brees or Russell Wilson have? Does anyone care what the top speed Peyton Manning is able to generate on his throw these days? Or how clean his spiral is when he goes deep in an outdoor stadium with plenty of wind? At least half of quarterbacking has nothing to do with physical attributes. When it comes to size and athleticism, there's good enough and then there's not good enough. Schaub was good enough this past year; it wasn't his athleticism that killed him but rather what was going on upstairs, the mental wreckage he took from running such a vanilla offense which led to game losing pick sixes over and over. Judging a college QB on athleticism is like making hiring a CEO for a company based on height. Does it matter? Sure maybe there's a big of understated association involved. But for the most part, you care about what's inside more than out. And as far as playing against inferior competition goes, tell me what conference Ben Rothlisberger or Joe Flacco came from. Or Matt Ryan for that matter; it's not like the ACC has been any kind of world beater for the past decade.
