Celtics get the young German Rondo & dump Wallace's third year off their books. Hawks reload their roster to feature Horford at PF. Rockets win now while getting better trade assets in Rondo & Millsap.
Yeah, that one was funny Anyway, how about this Josh Smith to houston, Smith is the odd man out in Detroit and wants to trade him for peanuts Asik to Boston, obviously they have Interest in Asik Jeff green to Detroit , can play the 3 and the celtics wanna get rid of him Who says no?
Noooo.....!!!!!! I like Josh Smith, but not on a team where almost everyone has the gree light to shoot because he would too...
The Pistons may say no, because the impression I get is that they like Smith there, and they want to move Monroe so Smith can be a 4. Otherwise, yeah, I think this is a pretty good suggestion.
Josh Smith has one of the 10-15 worst contracts in the league right now. Terrible shooter, lousy attitude, has always relied on athleticism, which declines over time. Well-managed teams like Houston will have zero interest. When the new GM took over in Toronto, his first order of business was to find a taker for Andrea Bargnani. When Joe Dumars finally gets fired in Detroit, look for his replacement to quickly unload Smith. All you're going to get for Smith is expiring contracts, at best. Jeff Green's contract is also lousy. Danny Ainge has been looking for a taker since this summer. Ainge has been hoping to get a first round pick for Green, presumably, which is why Green is still a Celtic. Ainge likely takes what he can get foe Grewn at the Feb 20 deadline, even if it's just expiring contracts. My guess is that Ainge is looking to package Green's lousy contract with Gerald Wallace's lousy contract, and get back less lousy contracts. The Knicks have several less lousy contracts. Is Carmelo dumb enough to get excited by, and sign off on, an Amare-for-Green-and-Wallace trade? He's pretty dumb, so maybe. I am frequently surprised by how many Rockets fans fail to appreciate Morey's achievements. You would think that a fan of a team whose management totally gets it would at least kind of get it, but you would be wrong.
Afflalo is playing out of his mind this season. Probably one of the best midrange shooters from the baseline. Also, a solid shooter from 3 and a good defender. No way you can get him for Jeremy Lin only. Probably have to add a couple of 2nd rounders. However, as a fit with the current roster, Afflalo would be our 6th man. We need somebody who can score AND create for others (Casspi, Garcia, Smith, DMo). Can he do that? If the answer is no, I believe keeping Jeremy Lin is the right call here. He will slowly be that 15/5 guy we need off the bench.
Why do people keep suggesting trades that bring back non stars on contracts extending beyond next year? What part of class did these guys skip? If the player's contract extends beyond next season, unless they are that "third star", Morey isn't going to want them.
It depends on two things 1. How desperate the Knicks are for a roster shake up? 2. The market for Boston to dump their larger 3yr contracts, ie mostly Wallace that some writers are calling untradeable. If no one else in the league will take Wallace's contract off Boston's hands and with the Knicks & Nets as the only teams treating tax dolars as Monopoly money. Maybe something can happen there... Atlanta turn Millsap into Jeff Green & Asik. Enough said.
That's my point. If there is one team with the money and desperation to take on his deal it's the Knicks. Does swapping out Bargnani + Felton for Wallace & Lin improve them? Yes, it's a massive upgrade.
