My cat knocked my PS4 off my shelf and broke it. I had the system for 2 weeks. Am I screwed?

Always keep any fur stuff away from XBox cause it sucks. A computer is probably OK cause it blows instead.

    The "last generation" huh?

This type of stuff has gone on for a really long time. Theft and deception is nothing new.

How did the prior "generations" do with the treatment of homosexuals, women, blacks, the poor, HIV positive people, etc..... lets not act like things were much different before.

I don't even own or want a PS4, but I am not shocked or surprised that people attempt to return broken ones.

Today I learned that not being a thief means I'm on a high horse. Gotcha.

how is calling Microsoft, asking for a refund and being granted one, theft? I mean sure i told them i touched it instead of telling them my cat jumped on top of it, but it was still a defect in the system, it shouldn't damn near explode from a kitten jumping on the top of it. (and as a matter of fact they were the ones who were so quick to try and get me to send it in for a new one.)

I bolded the key details for you. They granted you a refund, because you "left out" key details.

I'm not comparing you to Bernie Madoff, but it is still wrong.

Also, this thread has several people giving ideas on how to get the OP a refund by returning the broken PS4. Slice it anyway you want it, but fraud is fraud.

Anyways OP call Sony and ask for a new one... it can't hurt and if Sony wants to give you a new one, take the damn thing!

At least i will have a cell mate when we both get caught for fraud

If you had bought this from Costco, you'd be covered. I guess people never learn.

This is truly scum. I understand the temptation due to price, but don't come in here asking people to get off their high horse when you damn well know you wouldn't have gotten a new system had you told the truth to them.

He has been pretty annoying. I'm not even going to bring up his last comparison.

The Wal-Marts, Best Buys, and Amazons just send it back to the manufacturer who comps them one for free in their next shipment. The manufacturers fix the problem for next to nothing because most of the expensive hardware still works. Now, what about all the customsers who had to buy multiple Playstation 1s and 2s, or those customers who got screwed over by the red ring of death 1 month after their warranty expired? I think it's fair. If his cat broke it after the 30 days then he is screwed.

    No, this is why.

Get off your high horse. Stop acting like you're better than everyone here and get off the high horse you rode in on.

uhhh yes i would have... you must not of ever had an Xbox 360 they literally were defective, and they were literally refunding hundreds everyday because of the smallest things breaking them. I got so tired of it that I just sold one they sent me back for a PS3 and i have had it for about 3 years and my cat has jumped all over the damn thing and it still runs like a deer.

I would of been fine not getting a new one and switching to the PS3 after the first one broke as i said i was going to do, but they insisted i was a valuable customer and to send it back... electronics have adjusted prices right off the bat for stuff like this (especially video game consoles!!)

Yea, only buy from one giant corporation. That will make the world a better place.

And back on topic. As someone else said, that's what he gets for owning a cat.

IF he is honest and Sony replaces it, good on them. However, others have stated right here that they lie to get a free replacement. I'm saying it is morally wrong. If that is how you live your life, by all means - but don't act like it is the "right" thing to do.

    Costco is awesome.

I'll flat out say that I am better than someone who lies to return an item that was broken by them. My conscience is worth more than $500 to me - but that's just me.

Why should Microsoft, Walmart or any other company have to pay because this guy's cat broke his PS4? It isn't those company's fault - it is his and/or his cat's fault.

It is simple economics, all of those businesses pass losses back on to the consumer. So as a consumer, he's screwing me and everyone else who buys anything in our free market society.

If calling out thieves for being thieves means I am on a high horse, than the view looks great from here. By definition, the "ideas" being thrown around in this thread are fraud. Plain and simple.

Taking responsibility for your actions doesn't mean you're on a high horse, it means you are a good person.

Microsoft replaced all defective Xbox 360s at no cost to the owners (and still do). Breaking an Xbox and returning it as "defective" is fraudulent. Faulty and broken are not the same thing, and you know it isn't. You can try to live in denial that you had the "right" to return an Xbox you broke - but you're only fooling yourself.

I see you care so little that you replied to me.

Also, yes if I break something, I will pay for it. Just like I also actually pay use tax, unlike most people I know. The fact that a lot of people do a wrong thing, does not make it right by sheer force of numbers.

Wait... if you insist they would have given you a new one anyway had you told the truth, then why did you bother lying...?
