Not sure if you are serious. The whole San Antonio (best team in evaluating talent) org did not want to trade Hill and was even entertaining the thought of trading Parker and keeping him instead. That is how good he is. Only reason they did is they could not afford paying him as they knew teams would be lining up to pay him good money. Only thing that makes them feel better is they traded him to get a pick that eventually landed them Leonard. If Leonard did not turn out well, they would have been regretting it till now.
Howard fit with Turk, Lewis, and Nelson... So he should definitely fit with Harden, Parsons, and Lin just like he did with Kobe and Gasol. We got a center with no post game and now you guys want to add a point guard with no jumper and neither one can shoot free throws.
Having one of the best two-way PG's in the league and all that he brings to the table FAAAARRRRR outweighs any sort of concerns about fit or spacing. Getting Rondo would be a no-brainer if given the opportunity.
Rondo? If he's actually on the market, and if he rounds back into Rajon "pre-ACL tear" Rondo soon, and if Morey can grab him for a not-grotesque amount, then I say we get him. Sure, he can't really shoot from outside, but he's great at getting to the basket (when he chooses), plays perimeter defense (which the other boneheads on our team can't even spell), and, what's more, would be a perfect setup man for Dwight Howard and our getting-better-(almost)-every-game Terrence Jones. Is Rondo a pr*ck? Sure he is. But this team needs, how would you say it?, a real pr*ck. Rather than our current collection of soft-ons. And if Harden and Rondo prove incapatible, then decide in the offseason which you want to keep and which you want to trade for a king's ransom. Oh, and I love how SF3isBack!! (and others, I presume) denigrade Howard. Howard isn't Hakeem, he isn't Shaq, but I guarantee he'd shut up a lot of people if he had a real point guard rather than a collection of Jordan Farmars. Says the Scarecrow to the Wizard.
So trade for Rondo, realize it caused a disaster then try to trade him....is that the plan? It doesn't sound like a very good plan.
Rondo is not very useful without the ball. Between Howard post-ups and Harden ISOs, Rondo won't handle the ball as much. Rondo relied on catch-and-shoot guys like Ray Allen and KG. There is a reason Patrick Beverley is the starter on this team. Delusional Rockets fans expect the 12-assist-per-game all-star Rondo. On this team, he'd be lucky to avg 8 assists, which makes him a mediocre PG. Besides, Rondo without his elite quickness is not hard to guard. He is 27 coming off ACL injury. Don't think he'll be as quick as before.
Not to mention, he's also "National TV Rondo". A player that routinely raises his level of play in big games. Obviously, some would argue that's not necessarily a positive thing since he doesn't play at that level all of the time; but let's be honest, having the type of talent needed to take over games in the first place is more than most can say. I'm fine with him saving his best performances for the big stage. We've all watched the Rockets get blown out by Indiana, LAC and OKC while the NBA community chuckled. It makes you wonder how different those games might have been with Rondo on the roster.
Bobby the Great, he has the same amount of turnovers as James Harden. James Harden has the ball in his hands more than our PG's do. If anything, putting the ball in Rondo's hands would cut down on Harden's turnovers.
I think Rondo will be a perfect fit for our franchise. Even better. Imagine. Crunch time. Beverley, Rondo, James, Parsons and Howard!
Rockets to get Rondo/Bass for Asik, Lin and 2014 1st Round Pick? http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/lawrence-rondo-rajon-move-article-1.1583942
Actually taking the ball out of Harden's hands and putting it in Rondo's hands would lead to more turnovers as he has a higher turnover percentage. Cutting down on Harden's turnovers doesn't help the team if it increases the overall turnovers for the team while putting the ball in a less competent player's hands. According to the numbers, taking the ball out of Harden's hands and putting it in Rondo's hands would lead to 6.2% more turnovers. No thanks.
Is there a stat somewhere that shows Rondo's presence on the court would make Howard look more like a $20,000,000 Secretariat-like stud rather than an $8,000,000 constant 3rd-place finisher?
One of the things this team lacks the most is a vocal leader and toughness. I don't know if you guys remember this (of course you guys do)... but, Rondo came back minutes later from this: He is a champion.
yes judge rondo by his 2nd game back from an ACL tear but give lin a 4 month pass last year because of his sprained ankle which was so painful it prevented him from being embarrassed by the miami heat in the playoffs its crazy how delusional half of the lin fan base is thinking rondo wouldnt be an upgrade to lin
