He's a ball dominant guard that can't shoot to save his life. If he doesn't have the ball at all times, he's completely worthless on offense. He might not be THE worst fit at PG for the Rockets, but he's close to the worst fit at PG for the rockets in the entire NBA. Rondo needs to work next to a true SG to fit, not someone like Harden who is also a ball dominant guard.
These are BS rumors. There is absolutely no reason for Boston to do this trade. Asik and Lin are good players, but they are not stars to build around, and the Cs will have their own potentially top-5 picks in the next two drafts PLUS highly probable top-5 picks from Brooklyn in 2016, 2017, and 2018, in addition to a bunch of other picks (Atlanta/Brooklyn pick this year, Clips pick next year). They have absolutely no need for another late first rounder.
It's not nice to spread lies! Rondo 2012 on the left, Lin 2013 right Seriously doubt Boston would get rid of him though. It would also take a 1st rounder if Lin and Asik are on the table. Or possibly a combination involving Bang
the idea was that Harden will have to become less ball dominant when around the star who has more pedigree than himself...Harden would have to defer to Rondo...
Lets hope this trade goes thru. Rondo is the missing piece to this team that brings experience and veterans. Hey remember what I said b4 if anyone cares? Morey always goes for players who has been to the finals. D Howard and harden comes to mind. Gasol, Bynum, ariza, now rondo? Might as well get Kobe while we're at it. Why not rip Hamilton and Chauncey billups as our reserves?
That chart shows that he is a pathetic 3 point shooter who finishes well around the rim and pretty much nothing else. Hitting 50% from midrange in the center of the court is decent I guess, but we are talking about a 24% 3 point shooter and a 62% FT shooter....for a guard, that's pathetic. If on the Rockets, Rondo would have the 4th lowest true shooting % and the 5th lowest effective FT% on the entire roster. That's not a guy you want at PG on a team with a superstar dominant guard like Harden. The PG simply MUST be able to shoot and Rondo just can't.
That's ridiculous. Harden is a much better player than Rondo, to suggest that you would make your best player adjust his game to better fit a lesser player is crazy. It's very much like how Lin fans wanted Harden to adjust his game and defer to Lin....just won't happen.
Rondo plays defense, great play maker and can get you wide open shots unlike Harden who tries to play defense but is bad at it
http://m.nydailynews.com/1.1583942 the guy that wrote the article has been with ny daily news since 1995 19years, not sure why he would waste his time spreading BS, he didn't say rondo is for sure coming but he said as an insider celtics are open to trading him & if so ROCKETS & SUNS are where to, but hey maybe you have some legit news you can bring, do you ?
I don't really feel like we need another point guard. I've been happy with Jeremy Lin and Patrick Beverly. At worst they are average. We just need more depth, probably a backup center and a back up two guard but I don't know where we'd get those.
It could be argued that the system that is in place right now isn't working all that well. Adding a guy like Rondo would force Mchale to change his system. That would be great for this team. Rondo is a great leader who holds his teammates accountable all of the time. If the other players are not giving 100% effort Rondo will get in their face. If they aren't playing defense the right way Rondo will tell them what they need to do. Putting the ball in Rondo's hands will cut down on the ridiculous amount of turnovers this team makes as well. I think he would be a great fit for this team. In spite of the fact that Rondo isn't that great at shooting 3's. I know Jocar compared Lin and Rondo above but in all actuality it would have been better to compare Beverley and Rondo. Their games are very similar. Rondo is just a much better player overall and his contract is up in 2015. Something that Morey was reportedly looking for as well.
Okay, but Harden is better at defense than Rondo is at shooting so Harden's "weak spot" of his game is a hell of a lot stronger than Rondo's "weak spot" of shooting like an 8th grade B team kid.
All this talk about harden needs the ball has been going on forever, I have question about this ??? ok harden is clutch, best SG etc. but this is a team game, do you realistically see us winning a championship with harden playing PG through 4 seven game series ? Coaches have plenty of time to game plan in the playoffs. And every spot up shooter you put besides him will have off nights sometimes. I look at bringing in rondo is a PLAYOFF move and really that's what it's all about, no need to worry harden will still get 20-25 points I promise you that.
The team formula has multiple ball handlers, not just Harden, that's why every wing player has to be able to shoot and play off-ball.
Do you think this formula is something we can win a championship with ? And who will control the ball and make plays down a playoff stretch if coaches have planned against harden ?
Absolutely. The Rockets are still the 4th youngest team in the league, have had all sorts of injuries, and are still off to one of the best starts in franchise history. The reason multiple ball handlers work is because teams can't gameplan for just one person. If they try to stop Harden, you work the post game having Brooks, Bev, Lin, and Parsons as the primary ball handler. When they adjust, you go back to Harden. This team needs more time to get their chemistry issues worked out, but they are going to be really really good for a long time.
