Some of you guys are taking this the wrong way. Nowhere did I say that these guys do not have any work ethic. I was just curious to know if anyone knows how much time our guys put in outside of practice to working on their craft.
It's probably more to do with talent level, IQ, etc. then it does work ethic... The NBA is not an easy league to make and stay in for guys like Garcia and Casspi if they don't work hard. So I don't doubt their commitment, I doubt their abilities.
What about guys like Harden? Someone who knows every team would love to have who doesnt really have to worry about not being in the league in relation to his actual play. You hear about the work ethic of Kobe and Lebron. Does Harden have the same drive as them or even attempt? Its hard to tell with his somewhat non chalant kind of attitude.
Each player puts in a lot of practice time in the gym. Parson game has improved each year. Lin's game improved over the summer. Harden works hard in the gym. T.Jones game improved tremendously over the summer. Howard is known for his work ethic, dude even workout with the Dream and Mchale.
I don't see how you can judge someone's work ethic by a non chalant attitude... Which I really don't agree with. But I don't see how that relates to work ethic.
No one makes it to the NBA without working hard. No one stays in the NBA without keep working hard. To suggest we have 2 bums in our team for the first half of the season so far is ridiculous.
You can't really technique your way out of a slump. If you could, guys wouldn't be in a slump for long. Regardless of sport, a slump can last for months.
Parsons is 0.5% above his career 3pt% average, hitting 37.6%. Considerin how poorly he shot at the very beginning of the season I'd say he's shootin fine these day. Brooks is hitting 41.0% on the year but you seem to have forgotten him for some reason. As of today: Parsons - 37.6% (37.1% career) Beverley - 33.3% (35.3% career) Brooks - 41.0% (36.8% career) Casspi - 34.8% (35.2% career) Garcia - 34.2% (36.0% career) Harden - 33.0% (36.4% career) Lin - 34.0% (33.4% career)
I know what you mean buddy. Obviously these guys worked hard to get where they are at but it doesn't stop there, not for the great players anyway. I think the OP is asking how hard these guys work to improve their game. What has Harden added to his game since coming into the league? (not saying the hasn't added anything). Do these guys bleed basketball? For the most part we don't know because we're not in practice with these guys or around these guys during their down time. How bad does it hurt to lose to these players? Bad enough to stay around longer as a team and work on their weaknesses?
I'm not judging his work ethic by his attidude I'm just saying its hard to tell how hard he works by his actions. That's really not far fetched at all.
Like i said im not denying the fact that they dont put in work. Just wondering how much work you guys think they put in. If Garcia or whoever knows his role is to be a spot up shooter then how much work does he put into working on spot up shooting? Just an example.
Yes, I'm sure the people who are the top 200~300 of their profession in the world have no work ethic. Just like I'm sure the top physicists, top doctors, top chefs in the world made it where they are without work ethic. The next time you see a doctor who failed to save a patient, just tell him "if you had a better work ethic that patient would still be alive" because certainly that is the only possible reason for failure.
McHale has mentioned many times that Garcia is always early and late in the gym. The guy lives for bball and is one of the most passionate guys on the team. He is slumping a little bit, but that should not question his work ethic. This isn't Royce White we're talking about.
