Apparently I watch more basketball than you based on your post. Jones has gotten absolutely murdered on the defensive end and his shooting has spiked down.
I wasn't a fan of the idea of acquiring Rondo at first because he can't shoot, but I'm slowly warming up to the idea.
We're one of the lesser shooting teams in the league. Rondo may not be an elite perimeter shooter but he more than makes up for it with his other abilities.
We don't need an superstar or all star caliber point guard to win the Championship. All we need is a decent flior general who can hold his own on both sides of the ball. I would love to have an healthy Rondo on this team. Dude would bring that toughness that we need.
While we are at it can we get LeBron and Love as well? Center: Howard. Check SG: Harden. Check PG: Rondo. Check SF: James. Check PF: Love. Check Championship. Check.
Rondo doesn't shoot significantly better than Dwight Howard.....He's one of the worst fitting PG's for the Rockets in the entire NBA.
I was wondering is there any other Playoff team which can use Rondo other than the Rockets? Maybe Dallas, but they have nothing to get him,we at least have Asik and Boston would like to have him.
Nice to see more and more Clutchfans members warming up to Rondo. I don't think this will happen, but I would love if it would. The idea that someone like Harden can't be at his best playing next to someone like Rondo who controls the ball a lot, is a myth. Harden is indeed a playmaker, but other playmaker scorers in the past have not only coexisted next to an elite point gaurd but excelled particularly then. For example, look at Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter back in the Portland days. Clyde still got around 6 assists per game every season, as well as scoring in the mid 20's, but Porter was a top ten assist man most of those years of them being together. In fact, Rondo can let Harden do what he does best (score) easier. Right now Harden is working too hard for his own shots, as well as creating for other players, and Rondo could take much of that shot creation load for both Harden and the rest of the team off of Harden's shoulders. Lin and Harden have not meshed as well because Lin is a very similar type of player as Harden -- a scorer who can also create shots for others. Rondo is a different animal all together. He is an elite true point guard. He would help us cut down on our turnovers, increase our shot percentage (by creating easier shots for the team), make us tougher, help our perimeter defense, unburden Harden, and make both Howard and Jones much better players. If there is anyway to make this trade happen, that would be amazing.
You need to go get Checked!! No way, we get Love and Rondo on this team...we don't have the Cap Space.
Rondo to Houston ? I like this but mchale will have to change his offensive strategy. Rondo is a huge upgrade for this team . He plays defense , excellent passer , he has a midrange shot contrary to GARM belief, he can easily run the offense and is a top playmaker in the league. He just needs to prove he is healthy . Only issue is he is owed 13 mill next season so Asik and Lin will need to go to match salary
The Rockets would be scary with a point guard upgrade, and a backup for Dwight. The PG doesn't have to be Rondo. It's not Rondo or nothing. There are other options.
