Hope he makes his decision soon, I reeally dont think hes a legit candidate for that job.. Their front office was called the 3 stooges... (Imagine if they hire a coach that was just recently fired as well) there fans would be all over them.. Also they are looking for a Offensive mind coach and although Munchak was an offensive player, i dont think the Titans Offensive #'s were that good this year, mayber worse than the Browns

Maybe he thinks Tomlin is on the hot seat somewhat, and being in the building might help him get the head gig if they decide to make a move?

The guy who did the driveway interview with Arian took an unindented shot at Houston sports writers when he said that what made it hard for Arian to do that was that he wasn't used to sports writers asking him tough questions because they are all afraid to lose access.

Yea and its so obvious.. Other sports media breaks the Houston breaking news before any of the Texans Beat Writers.. they should atleast have someone inside and get some decent info on the progress

McClain: Munchak interviewed with the Browns. Now to Pitt for OL coach job. I don't think he has a prayer in Cleveland. They're waiting on Broncos OC Adam Gase. Munchak would take the Cleveland job. He won't be a coordinator. He'll be an OL coach. Mike knows if he goes to be an OL coach, he'll probably be that the rest of his career.

    Steelers OL job better?

It's his home state but Bill O'Brien has a 5 year contract. He can come here, where everyone knows him, everyone wants him, he's not out for attention, he can come back here and stay the rest of his career. In Pitt, all you know is for one season. I may be wrong, maybe Pitt blows him away, but I think if he doesn't get the Cleveland job, he'll be here.

John Benton is a good coach. The Texans, all their coaches who helped them win, didn't get stupid over the offseason. John is a good coach but he's not Mike Munchak. Quessenberry and William would learn from Benton, they'd learn more from Munchak.

There is an article I've posted before written before the season where Brian Gardner is listed by a former front office guy as one of 10 front office guys most likely to be stepping up to a GM position. That is a pretty impressive fall from grace in 12 months.

BTW, I know that people love to think of a conspiracy of nepotism from the top rather than bad judgement by someone you've never heard of, but according to that article, Gardner was the driving force behind the signing of Ed Reed, which in retrospect should by itself be cause for firing. The article was written before training camp, so I rule out the "convenient scapegoat" possibility.

I think these behind the scenes front office worker bees that 90% of the fan base couldn't identify are usually much more important to the success or failure of the franchise than people would like to believe. It is much easier to eliminate the middle man and blame every decision directly on the GM, coach, and owner.

Yet another fall guy to protect Rick Smith.

And I thought the issue wasn't with "talent"... It was all coaching.

Still not sure how Smith survives this.

Yeah, something is not adding up. McNair before the season, "this is the most talented squad we've ever had top to bottom." End of the season, "we had too much talent to be 2-14. Other teams were better prepared and more disciplined then we were."

Rick Smith is said to believe the coaches had too much input into the draft at the O'Brien intro press conference he said the following:
Smith is either lying when he said the coaches had too much input and ran the show, or he is lying about how bad his staff was to deflect blame and do what he needs to in order to save his job.

While McNair isn't overly hands on, he's involved enough to know who's responsible for what, at least when it comes to the draft. If Smith is lying then McNair is too.
