Who cares? It's 3x more fun than any games the XBone is offering.

I'm no expert, but I think Nintendo and their shareholders care... not to mention developers.

Xbox One and PS4 both have some great games out right now. Are they all blockbusters? No, but no first round of games ever really is - short of Halo 1 on the original Xbox. It takes devs time to learn to harness the power of new systems.

No dude, I said it from the beginning; this is a stupid ****ing thread.
It was started by an idiot, and it's ended up a mirror image of the OP.
Just a bunch of drivel and circular arguments. This might as well be in the D&D.

BTW...the purpose of this thread is to keep A-holes like you out of the PS4 and XB1 threads with their fanboy-ism.

God forbid people were mature enough to not care about the other thread. I don't have a PS4, so I don't read the thread because it isn't relevant to me. Simple as that.

And that's ok. PS4 fanboys have been so focus on the "demise" of the XB1 with its "720p graphics","spy camera", and lack of sales, that they invade XB1 threads.
Put all the fanboy-ism in one thread hopefully keeps the XB1 thread clean (as well as the PS4 thread).

Scarface, you must be 15. Look at the title of your thread.

Not me. I wouldn't even pirate that game AND I PREFER FPS games on PC. Just look at the PS4 thread and you will see I am not biased on this topic. It looks like another over-hyped MS game. I am looking forward to the release of GTA V on PC, but not Titanfall.

You take this too seriously. You can be a fanboy without being a troll. Svpernaut is good at it.

I can't be specific, but no. BF 2142 was more like a battlefield game (obviously).

I'm far from 15. My comments were not directed at you. Your preference for PC is fine. Seclusion is a PS4 fan boy, he is a troll.
Again, the title of thread is to keep the fanboy-ism in this thread. I said before I will at some point get a PS4, although I'm not a fan of Sony. MS is the lesser of 2 evils in regards to consoles (Not of a big fan of MS either....but they are better than Sony). Give me an Apple Console...;)

All BS aside - I'd like to learn more about development for PS4. the tools, the platform, etc. I know how easy it is to develop for Xbox One (I can't do it obvioulsy, as I am a terrible programmer) but Visual Studio is the best IDE on the planet, and C# or C++ are the languages that can be used and HTML5/JavaScript is supported as well on Xbox One with Unity support coming very soon.

So, anyone have knowledge of the programming side of things for the PS4? I know the PS3 was a nightmare to code for in comparison to the Xbox 360 - but I believe the PS4 x86 platform makes it much easier now.

You're right. AFAIK, Sony has a plug-in for VS that lets you use it for developing PS4 games (actually...I'm not sure what else devs WOULD use...I'd assume possibly the same for Vita and possibly PS3). C/C++ code primarily (HTML5/JS webapps can be created I believe for non-games...well, maybe for games too, but not common). No DirectX obviously, but Sony provides DirectX-like functionality with the some custom APIs. All much more efficient than what PC games use (MS does the same with Xbox). I've heard it is similar to Mantle for the PC.

I'm not sure it is available now, but Unity support was announced about a year ago (for PS4, Vita, and PS Mobile). Along with that, Sony has their own free-to-use game engine:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhyreEngine
It is actually pretty popular with developers, and Sony lets them use it for multiplatform games (I'm guessing they don't prioritize that part of the engine, but it seems to work well). Games like Dark Souls, Hotline Miami, Journey, etc. use it.

Sony tends to have a very nice group of tools and engine developers for their platforms. They pretty much NEEDED them given how complex they made their platforms. The PS3 was a mess to develop for, but over time, these teams at least made it a lot less painful.

I haven't personally developed on these platforms, but just going off the dev documents from things like GDC or elsewhere (plus dev commentary).

This was on IGN. Pretty interesting watch. They laid out all the details of the different aspects of the systems and had the viewers vote.
