I want him to try to find a scoring wing that can play the two or three, ala Evan Turner, or a strech three - four, ala Jeff Green, Mike Dunleavy, Young. Then we could compete with anybody!
Every team has injuries, won't work. FYI, Asik is not injured, he just wants to be traded. When you look at OKC, they have players like Nick Collison, Steve Adams & Reggie Jackson all contributing to wins. Our bench is dependant soley on AB's scoring. Other than him, it goes downhill. Morey deserves ALOT of the blame for the very noticeable flaws in our roster. Morey wants a offense predicated on 3's, well last nite was proof that ish will not work against good teams. What Morey needs to do is stop trying to control the offense, fire Mchale, and then bring in a coach like George Karl who'll actually make in game adjustments and hold players accountable for ISO ball.
Now that I have your attention lets get this straight. Morey submitting himself to what other GMs deem is worthy doesn't benefit the team. It doesn't help the team to just give away assets. It doesn't help the team to just add whatever players for the sake of making trades.
You named basically sixers or celtics players. Considering we talked to both teams in great detail earlier this year, you don't think Morey tried for those guys?
We should be mining our DLeague team for some help. I don't know why Morey is always looking at the longterm picture. If we continue to lose in a humiliating fashion, what good is all that capspace when free agents don't want to play with us in 2015? Get some help NOW. It's partly his reputation. Morey doesn't want to lose in trades because he's protecting his reputation. Well, this team is fading fast. Nothing the coaches or the Chronicle writers say can hide the fact that effort or better 3pt shooting will not solve our woes. Too many flaws in our team.
Again, with the resources Morey had this summer, who would you have signed differently? You want to bring up OKC?? They're what 6-5 since Westbrook went down?? So we're struggling due to lack if depth but they're not?
Do you guys honestly believe Morey is just sitting on his ass? The man who makes more moves than anybody else this time of year?
Thunder are one star depleted. So it balances out with Asik and Beverley. And I agree that it is BS that the Thunder had a day off while we play our 3rd in 4 nights including needing all 48 mins to beat the freaking Pelicans in NO, it is simply never an excuse in this league. Guys have to go out and play. But it is a Schedule Loss, and I really freaking hate the Thunder.
We know Morey is not just sitting on his behind. I just just think he always trying to hit the home run! I do beleive that he will find that third star play. I really feel that we will end up with Rondo and a player. I just think until that happens, there are some players availabe that can strengthen our bench and add dept now. We are losing to many winable games right now due to the lack of talent on our bench and Mchale's lack of trust in the players he has.
6-5 since Westbrook out. But they somehow beat us in the playoff series without Westbrook (with their lack of depth) If he's supposedly the best GM in the league, how is it you bring yourself to question Morey's "resources" he had during this offseason? Isn't that supposed to be his specialty? Finding unknown guys that contribute? Well right now the guys he's brought in to fill the roster aren't contributing and getting outplayed. Again, he definitely deserves blame for this roster.
That was a different OKC team. So what your basing your blame on Morey is his inability to get better players with the Vets minimum? That's a joke right? Rome wasn't built in a day and Morey had no flexibility last offseason. He needs time to build the team around H and H. You're using his reputation to put him in an impossible situation
To paraphrase Morey, "my goal isn't to have the best roster in August." We aren't a contender nor has Morey ever claimed we are. These things take time and chances are we will not have a shot at a major roster upgrade until next season, so unless you want to Billy King it and mortgage our future to make some mediocre moves, it's on McHale and the players to figure out how to win games for now.
7 years of Morey and only 1 second round appearance.... is just about average. The results are not in favor for one of the best Gms in the last 5 years.
This team could have REALLY used James Johnson. Like, really. Except that we have no roster spot for him, given the Asik situation. I'm just waiting for another team to slide Troy Daniels out from under us, while we sit around in need of a sniper.
So what your essentially saying is Morey holds no accountability as GM, because he was so gracious enough to land us Dwight Howard this offseason. Therefore, he can not be blamed for any of his moneyball signings prior nor post Dwight Howard. So in other words, it IS okay to hold accountable the coaches (who Morey hired) and the players (who Morey put here). Just not Morey. Ok, got it now
Tsk, this fanbase, always looking to plug in more players when this existing teams' chemistry sucks as it is. Look at most teams' bench, and they don't exactly scream all world talent. Most teams know how to use what they have though. Portland's bench isn't exactly great outside of Mo Williams, and the starters have played heavy minutes throughout, yet they still play competitively. They don't even have any "superstars" on that team. This team has more than enough talent. More than enough offense to not score 19 in a half. They just have terrible chemistry, and if Morey needs to fix something quickly, its get a leader on this team asap. Asik, Beverley blah blah. You probably have to add three more players to that list, to equal the impact that losing Westbrook has to the Thunder. Soft team, soft fans.
Hakeem Olajuwon and James Harden landed us Dwight Howard. Make no doubt about it, Olajuwon played a major roll in landing Dwight! Morey made it possible with the management of cap space. All i'm saying is this team was tired last night and it showed. You will have nights when the team is just flat, and this was one of those nights. We'll be alright!
