It's almost the midseason and he's averaging 18.1 points, 12.7 rebounds with 1.8 blocks in 34.1 minutes. He's also marginally improved his FT% from last season. He's now shooting them at 53%.
There's a lot more to it than that. What about his defensive presence? How many shots has he changed/altered? What about double teams that have opened the lanes or 3 point line for others? What about him drawing fouls and us getting into the penalty sooner? How about the fact that he helps put more fans in the seats, which puts more money in Les' pocket, which allows us to go over the luxury tax? What about the fact that signing him will allow us to (eventually) upgrade elsewhere by making Asik expendable? Overall, my answer would be a definite YES!
I guess a player cannot over-perform or under-perform in relation to his contract, huh? If you actually watch games and are relatively knowledgeable, this isn't a hard question to answer.
Considering how he played last year I'm happy and he seems to be too. He also seems to be getting better by the day, once he and James learn how to play together we will be tough.
I'm pretty sure no one is thinking that but you. The title is most likely a nod to the movie Million Dollar Baby, at least thats what
Can't really speak on defense since TJones has emerged as another great shot-blocker/rebounder this year. However, our offense is much more flexible with him. Last year, if no one was hitting their outside shot (like many of our games this year), we were screwed. Blown out. Now, we don't live and die by the 3 and I think that makes us a more stable team. I kind of miss blowing out an opponent every week, but the win column speaks for itself.
Lock this thread and open it up after the playoffs...nothing matters right now until the team gets to the playoffs.
The same Dwight from last year, the injured one that wasn't content - even that guy would have been well worth 88.
There have been games where he's carried us. He's huge on the defensive end. Yeah, I'm very happy having Dwight here wearing Rockets Red.
actually he vastly exceeded them it seem this is the year D12 matured and transformed from a selfish stat obsessed player to a true team player i guess suffering a year with Kobe showed him what happen when u embrace the dark force
I am. He still doesn't seem to be as dominant as I remember from the Orlando days (although that also might just be me not remembering correctly). But he has been good, and we have even seen improvements in several different aspects of his game. I hope that he has been happy here as well.
considering that the Rockets have been 12 games over .500 in 5 years -- i am going to say yes - the guy was def worth it. they are on pace to win 53 games this seasons despite the myriad of injuries to the team -- without the extended injuries - i wouldnt think it would be a stretch to say that this could have been close to a 60 win team primarily due to the addition of one guy compared to the previous season
