I'm not gonna spoiler anything, but damn...very creepy. I can't wait for next Sunday already. McConaughey is perfect for this role and the ending absolutely made me want a next episode stat!

BTW- Why is he so skinny? Was that due to some other movie he was filming at the time?

Had to make a last minute Similac run to Walmart last night so I missed it. DVR'd it though and can't wait to watch this evening.

I'm just guessing here, but maybe they filmed this series around the same time as he did Dallas Buyer's Club. I remember seeing he lost like 45 pounds for that role.

oddly enough i had a terrible dream last night as well... wouldn't think it would be related to the show but that's a strange coincindence. and i rarely remember my dreams.

First thing that came to mind as well but I get the feeling this will be much darker. I was really impressed by the first episode, sucks we'll only get 8 total episodes with Harrelon and McConaughey.

I'd do that if I weren't so impatient.

Yeah it was very reminiscent of the antler murders in Hannibal. I kind of think the Hannibal murders were more disturbing. Here are two pictures of the Hannibal murders to compare:

The first episode was ok, but I was expecting it to be great and it was pretty slow moving. The reveal that there was a murderer still doing the same sort of kills wasn't a surprise to me because that was the most likely reason Cohle and Hart would be interviewed by detectives about those old cases. The interviewing detectives also implied that perhaps Cohle is a suspect now, though hopefully he is not actually guilty as he seems to be too obvious as a possible suspect to be a real surprise. Great production values and acting, so hopefully the story picks up now that the initial character intros are out of the way.

Yep...Woody is playing the No Country for Old Men character, but on the right side of the law this time. Type cast, but I like that role by him.

As for McConaughey, like Woody, many roles he plays are him redoing his same character....he gets type cast, too, like "Contact." But he's a better actor than Woody. When he gets a good role (like Mud) he is good.

So far, the show has given him a good role...and he is good.

    I'm hooked.

Impressed with the first show... it drew me in. But are you saying there are 8 total episodes (which I expect) ... or only 8 with those two and the show continues without them? I'm hoping it's not the latter... off to Google to find out.

Well, damn... guess I should have read through the whole thread first (was avoiding any potential spoilers).

If it matters, both Woody and McConaughey are Executive Producers. I'm not one for following stuff like that, but the credit sequence at the beginning got me laughing. There's like 6 Execute Producers. lols

[edit] nice find. In less that three minutes. :) I guess putting up money and yourself for one season is a good investment.

I liked it a lot. Sucks that Harrelson and Matt McConaughey might not be back.
