http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/...ka-matt-garza-albert-pujols-mike-trout-010414 The Astros' Jason Castro, a first-time arbitration eligible, is another catcher who could become a trade candidate, depending upon the development of Max Stassi. Rival teams have inquired on Castro, according to major-league sources. If the Astros cannot sign him to an extension, he could become the team's best trade chip. The 'Stros also could move him to first base.
The Astros need to be done trading (unless it's to add a proven MLB star). Castro is still under team control through 2016, if they trade him, I don't care how good Stassi looks, it seems like regression for the franchise. We have the DH in the AL, if Stassi does turn into a player, they can split time between catcher, DH and 1st. Can never have too many good players, especially given our still very low salary.
Jay Mohr's "Mohr Stories" podcast. Today's episode he interviews Jeff Luhnow. I know he's a big sports buff, obviously, but his podcast is usually reserved for comedians and entertainers. Looking forward to giving this a listen. Jeff Lunhnow, General Manager of the Houston astros joins Jay for this episode of Mohr Stories. They discuss how Jeff became the General Manager and they breakdown how he plans to turn this franchise around. http://www.jaymohr.com/mohr-stories.php

Arizona would be awesome. I wouldn't mind it if I never step foot inside Florida for the rest of my life.
This was so random that he had Jeff Lunhow on as I usually listen to every week. Lunhow is Mexican as fukk
So far there have only been talks that everyone is available. Did you hear that they are now going to trade him for sure?
This thread has become the Astros forum -- anything Astros-related gets posted here. I have no idea why that happens.
I disagree. There are several threads in here that are active, despite very little actual news. I don't think people want to start new threads if they aren't sure it will warrant a response.
It's more or less the offseason rumor mill thread, plus. I think it makes more sense than starting a new thread for every Astros-relevant tweet that we see pop up. The larger impact stories always end up finding their way into their own dedicated thread.
Yeah, given the state of the Astros, we don't have to deal with reactionary noob idiots starting new threads every 5 minutes.
What do you guys think about giving Aubreu a shot at first/dh? I'm on my phone, so can't really look up his stats, I can't even remember the last team he played for but he has always hit for average and could come cheap as a safety net for Singleton to ease into the big leagues. Plus we could get rid of Wallace and that god awful bat of his. He could be a really good bench player hitting in the bottom half of the lineup imo, even if he is 63 yrs old.

Very interesting about Meyer. Always sounded like his glove is big-league ready, but I wonder if the bat could ever play at that level. I imagine this big-league camp invite is more of a learning experience for him though than an actual audition.
Best news this off season?

Astros are relocating signs above left field. YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Truly outstanding news! Jim Crane fan for life!!! (seriously, I'm glad he did this. Leaving those signs there would truly be the mark of somebody who is completely out of touch with the fans)
