old people don't understand young peoples' workaround rules. you can't hold a 71 year old and his acceptance of right/wrong to that of someone from a different, younger generation. the old guy obviously wanted to see the previews without the distraction of the blaring light. ideally, people would turn their phones off before the previews begin. but, yes...it should be okay for people to talk and text in the run up to the movie but not during the movie each person paid to see. if you really want to break it down, then this particular cinema has a "all phones off" while in the theater auditorium rule so, by that logic, anyone could be kicked out at any time if they are caught using their phone. but, by the younger generations' logic, it's okay if it's not during the film. and, others will just do whatever the hell they want regardless of who they offend and what the rules are. people should show some respect for their elders regardless and not get into it with a senior citizen. that's just dumb.

To be fair, the theater also had a "NO WEAPONS ALLOWED" policy. The old guy obviously broke that rule. Either way, it's just a **** situation all around, and I'm pretty sure a guy like Marcus Luttrell would feel sick knowing that the message of his movie was obviously lost on these two.

Quick question, why is "masturbation" one of the tags?

Is it because every thread in the hangout is automatically assumed to be about fapping?

No, I would guess it is someone's appropriate labeling most of the posting in this thread all about the satisfaction of the individual doing the posting, and not about actually involving another human being. It's like a bunch of self-righteous colliding echo chambers, like so many "conversations" these days.

Hmm, then I guess a "masturbation" tag is implied for every D&D thread

If some stranger threw popcorn at me, then I would retaliate with gummy bear fire. or, maybe a thin mint or milk dud. in an ideal world, this would have escalated into a refreshment fight and everyone would have laughed it off after it was over. too bad they weren't seeing National Lampoon's "Animal House".

Sure, I would say "most" D&D threads, and "most" GARM threads actually. I would not say "every".

But I didn't create the tag, so I don't actually know why it's there. Kind of grim, all things considered.

Quick question. What bothers fellow movie goers more, some guy texting in front of you or some guy shooting and killing someone in front of you?

Idk about y'all but id way rather see a movie with a bunch of texters then a bunch of weirdo old people packing heat.

The implication is exactly what I said it was. Don't go being an ass to people you don't know because they may be willing to kill you. Nothing in that statement implies that it is alright or that it is acceptable or should be toloreated.

Would you advise your friend to go into a bar and start antagonizing the biggest meanest looking guy in there? Hell no, because that's just stupid. He might start beating your ass and might not stop until you occupy a space in the obituaries. It doesn't make it right. It doesn't mean I condone the guy getting killed. But it is meant to imply the big guy in the bar might not care about right and wrong so don't antagonize him.

    It's just damn good advice.

So one more time. Show me just one post where I condoned the old man shooting the young man. Just one, but you can't do that because I have yet to make that post.

Nothing logical happened between those two men. It was all emotion based actions and when people are ruled by their emotions (even for an instance) anything can happen.

I'm not blaming the victom for getting shot, but I am saying that he could have prevented it.

Kind of like if you take a defensive driving class, they teach you the accident might not be your fault but you might have been able to prevent it. And yes I do think the young man could have prevented the eventual outcome.

I would never say anything to anyone in a movie theater doing something stupid like this even if during a movie because I know if the person is doing something that is obviously stupid and irritating others around him...then me trying to reason with such an individual will end in some confrontation fail more than likely and who knows what happens? If it came down to it, then I would just get up and go find some employee to deal with it. That way...no one can retaliate and start sh_t over it. People have also been shot after the movie in the parking lot leaving because they said something during the movie. Why even risk it? It's not worth it. But, I'm pretty tolerant of people just because I know there are jerks out there who act like jerks and can't really be reasoned with.

    That's just stupid.

You are the only poster who has said that or implied that. And don't include me in that quote.

Good! I cringe when I see people pull out their phones during a movie.

If the old man was gonna punch him, he'd get his ass kicked for starters.
