But that's not what power rankings are for. Power rankings are basically rankings of what teams are balling right now. It's a measure of how hot a team is. Or how good they are at this point in time. The Warriors might not have the 2nd best record in the NBA, but the writer feels like they are playing the 2nd best basketball in the NBA right now. At this point in time, they are the 2nd best team in the NBA in the writer's opinion.
They're 1-0 against the Heat and 1-1 against the Thunder. As someone else said, power rankings are based on recent performance, which is why they change on a regular basis. They are the one team on a drastic upswing as of late.
The teams we've beaten in the west haven't exactly been pushovers though. Spurs(twice) Warriors (twice) Portland (in Portland) Dallas and Denver to name the bigger games. We're just losing to team we shouldn't and that's why our record looks so bad. We need to get healthy and play more collectively.
Whatever happens in regards to playoff seeding, I pray we do not end up facing the Clippers. That's a first round exit waiting to happen.
I think I'd have put us in the 14-17 range. Considering how we've been playing lately. With the talent this team has we should be racking up more wins than we are.
Which means if we'll got above the Western Conference hump in the play offs, there is a big chance we'll gonna be champs! Kidding aside, we've gotta be better against the West.
With a 24-14 record? What are you guys smoking? I swear, some people just enjoy being Debbie Downers.
Power Rankings are pointless because no one's going to judge this team on regular season performance.
The majority of that is against the east...the east...I'm atleast 12-3 against the east...when they play a good team or a really bad team they **** the bed. Injuries are a big part of it but they are in fact not a top ten team with the talent they have....yet.
To the ones bashing Toronto being above us please go and watch some of their recent games. They're playing better than us. Ball movement is a thing of beauty. Add Lowry's beastly play as of late, one of the best performing benches in NBA, and you've got yourself a #8 spot in power rankings.
This Rockets team plays good when we push the pace and score easy baskets in transition. Other teams have scouted us, they know that our weakness is slowing down to play in half court, because we don't move the ball well and no players who can move without the ball. Just like that game vs. Atlanta, we're terrible against teams who can get back on defense in transition.
