contracts are about GMs and owners, and not all about talent. like romo and brady contract. brady 5yrs/$57mil vs. romo 6yrs/$108 mil, romo has the bigger contract, do you think romo is better? reggie wayne could have got a deal with more money, but he decided to sign with the colts.
An idea fit for the Random Trade Thread in the GARM. Any argument that you can make on why you would want to trade AJ would also be an argument on why no team would want to trade for him. If he doesn't demand it then you'd be a fool for considering it. Not to mention right before looking to lock JJ Watt in as a Texan for life. I'm sure he'd find that very reassuring.

I guess we re-defined elite production to be 1k yards. And none of those guys would get you any more than a third round draft pick in a trade at age 32 (except for Rice... who was untradeable). Realistically, Andre more likely gets you a 4th plus another late round pick in a different year. There just aren't many trades for high round draft picks in the NFL, and when there are, it always seems to backfire on the team that traded the high round draft pick.
There is zero chance of someone offering a 1st for Andre. As stated already, Boldin netted a sixth last year.
No, AJ should retire a Texan and wait 5-years for the HoF. Indy kept Reggie Wayne and he became key to Luck's early success. Our new QB will have a great one to count on when he needs the big play for at least another few years.
So basically you're implying that AJ's more like Tony Romo(big deal because the owner likes him) and Wayne is more like Tom Brady(gave his team a hometown discount). Wouldn't that mean the comparison you make is irrelevant? If a Cowboys fan complain about Romo's contract, you wouldn't use Tom Brady to counter him, would you?
I wouldn't give a first either man. Well we all can agree that he's awesome and stays elite for the Texans. The rest remains debatable.
Considering only 24 players out of 477 players that had a single reception broke the 1k mark, yes I would consider that the standard for a good year. Of those 24, only 7 of them had more yards then AJ.
And how many games did those older receivers help their teams win...? And also, how much cap space was those older receivers taking up as well. Were they getting paid as much as Dre...? Yards don't always contribute to wins. IMO the Texans BEST year was a few years back when the Texans won the division for the first time and Dre only played in 13 games and had less than 700 yards receiving and only 2 TDs. But Dre is a great receiver _ no debate on that. And with his contract size, I don't believe any team would trade for him. But if the Texans cut him, just about every team in the NFL would be banging on his door.
Ok... still, at 32 years and older, nobody will be giving up anything higher than a 3rd round pick for that sort of production (and that's being optimistic).
