Console Wars Thread! PS4 vs. Xbox One vs. Wii U Fight!

After playing Tribes, BF series, and Planetside 2...

What's so good Titanfall again? Hype machine in action!

 

I came in here hoping I would see what I normally don't see on other gaming forums and it's clear that I was a damn fool for ever stepping foot in here.

 

Not hype at all...I briefly outlined previously (maybe in the Xbox One thread). It's going to be a stunner.

 

The funny thing is that the last few years have shown that the days of the hardware being the selling point over the software are long gone.

Take a look at the games you can play on an iPad. The hardware is just a delivery device these days. The day of having one console or the other and each having its own selling points are finished. You can buy great games on so many different pieces of hardware.

Look at at the Steam Machines. They have a dozen of those things out there now and thats not even counting PC's! They all have different prices and different specs. Focusing on hardware is ridiculous because EVERYTHING runs games great these days.

No matter what you're playing a game on it will give you great graphics. Outside of that, games play almost identical across all platforms.

Xbone vs PS4 in a console war thread....its a bit ridiculous. We all bought content delivery devices and they all work great.

What I am interested to see now is how MS and Sony respond to the HUGE market for slightly older games at dirt cheap prices. I think both HAVE to respond to what Steam, and if they respond well they would completely destroy the Steam machine....if not the PC side of things.

I think deep into the life cycle of both the XBone and PS4 people will realize how much the gaming landscape has changed and both will just be one of a thousand options you have to play games.

 

As someone who has played it (and everyone I know that has played it), it isn't hype. It is a dynamic battlefield game like nothing seen before. It is a shooter that will be copied and emulated for years to come.

I feel the doubters of Titanfall are like the ones who think Occulus Rift will be just a fad. If you've never experienced it, you just don't understand. However, if you read "first impressions" and reviews for Titanfall they are all glowing - hype machines have cracks (read Watch Dogs), this does not.

I figured with CF the "console war" thread would be far more intelligent than I'd find elsewhere - but I was wrong. It was pretty good for the first few pages, with actual discourse but is now just fanboys spouting falsehoods because they have nothing better to do with their lives apparently.

I guess I should expect it after seeing how quickly D&D threads spiral out of control.

I too am waiting to see how Microsoft and Sony compete with Steam (and other content delivery system) sales. I imagine after their libraries fill up a bit, we'll see more competitive pricing. This goes for other content as well like movies and music. One can hope anyway.

Umm, I've actually played the game. I'm not hyping anything, I'm giving my impression of it. Hype generally means an exaggeration. I'm not exaggerating the fact that I want to play Titanfall again as soon as possible - and that it is one of the few "nextgen" titles that I am really looking forward to.

 

So, if you did play it, what is the difference between this and let's say, Tribes Ascend that makes you think " It is a shooter that will be copied and emulated for years to come."

You're throwing the hype around, let's see you back it up.

 

I personally haven't played Tribes: Ascend, but have friends who have. I'd say for starters Respawn will actually support their software instead of releasing a buggy game, then ditching it to make a MOBA (the company that made Tribes Ascend is making Smite right now).

There's also the fact that more than 3 people will be playing it concurrently, but that's neither here nor there.

Lastly I don't need to play it to know that Respawn (CoD, CoD2, CoD: Modern Warfare, CoD: Modern Warfare 2) knows how to tune shooters better than the company that has made Global Agenda, Tribes Ascend, and Smite.

 

Search the internet and read what people said that actually played the game. Most were floored. That's not hype, that's reality.

For purposes of this thread, THE XBOX ONE WON THE MONTH WITH 908K SYSTEMS SOLD!

PS4 figures weren't given, but XBO did outsell it.

BUT SONY GUYS...HOLD UP...PS4 DID OUTSELL THE XBO OVERALL IN 2014!

What does this mean?!!!! Who gets to celebrate?!!

You're probably joking, but tell me where I can buy a PS4 right now in Houston (without some $1k bundle) and I will agree it's because of what you said.

 

It means people who want a next gen console and are tired of waiting for PS4 finally gave up and used their money to buy an Xbox.

 

So then they didnt see too much of a difference in the two systems if they caved to get an xbox.

I mean, if I really wanted a PS4 and couldnt find it, I'd rather wait than spend $500 on a system just because it's available.

 

More like some people who had money saved for a PS4 gave up and saved more then bought an Xbox with less games.
