Everything has a price, but I do not want to trade him and would much rather search other avenues of improving our team.

Why? There is almost no likelihood that anyone you take in the 3rd round will contribute anything close to andre in the next 5 years

    Past performance? No.

Future performance? You have no clue.

Dre's good at least 3 more years, hall of famers don't grow on tree's. No to a 3rd rounder. Better attach another 2nd and then we might talk.

Show me a WR that has had elite-level performance past the age of 32 for 3 entire years. He's a HOFer... but not based on future performance.

If anybody has a shot at doing it, its AJ80... just saying its highly unlikely.

Team with extra picks like the Washington to RAMs for RG3 picks.

Sure... pick possibly the greatest football player ever.

Even then, he was really only HOF-elite level for 2 more years.

Seeing how Baltimore got a 6th round pick for Boldin. I think 4th or 5th round pick at best. Picks are too valuable.

Well you asked and it was more than 2 years. A little over 90 yards away from another 1500 yard season. Dude want fall off THAT much in 3 years. If he only averages 1000 yards the next 3 years he will be right under ol jerry rice in recieving yards. If he stays healthy he will average more than that. Dude is still elite and for years to come.

I agree somewhat, I answered a specific question though. Production at that elite level is still production. Longevity separates the rest like Rice. Dre will still go strong 3 years from now.

It's ironic that people believes trading AJ will screw the Texans cap.

If they trade him, say for a 3rd, the Texans get penalized $12mil. If the Texans retain him, he'll be paid $12, $16, $15 for the next 3 years. In other words, ~12% of the entire salary cap devoted to a 32-34yr old WR. For reference, his cap hit in relationship to 2013 cap hits, would put him 22nd, 6th, and 9th overall in the NFL.

So it's actually the opposite. After years of restructuring AJ's deal to free up more and more money each offseason, it really is time to pay the piper. The Texans can either make AJ a top 10 paid player for the next 3 years, or pay a one-time $12mil fee to clear the books once and for all by trading or releasing him.

Either way, the Texans will need to pay.

For Brady, Manning, or Rogers, but generally, no.

Reggie Wayne, he is 35 now, and besides that year where the colts wanted to tank, and played with curtis painter, he has been amazing the last few years.

Do you think the colts would want to trade him? it is a question mark if he gets healthy next season, at his age, is not sure how he is going to recover from a torn ACL, but I dont think they would trade him now.

the year before andrew luck, people thought reggie wayne prime had ended, he was 33 at that time, colts were in full-rebuild mode, a lot of players were released or signed with other team, and people thought Reggie Wayne was out of Indianapolis, then, he surprised everyone by re-signing, and the last two years he has been great, imagine what would've happened if they didnt want to make a new deal for him, luck wouldnt have all the numbers he had last year and part of this year.

so, at 33 the colts gave him a new contract, there you go a nice example of a WR being great over 32, and you can compare wayne with AJ.
