Look at the people selling Harden short. It's the delusional and idiotic LOFs. Dumbest fan base in all of sports hands down.
Its funny how ungrateful people are. Yao and McGrady go down and we are stuck in mediocrity with a bunch of good role players but no star. Fast forward to 2012, Morey trades Martin and pieces for Harden, a star in the making. Then in 2013 one of the top centers in the game, Dwight Howard, signs with the Rockets to team up with Harden to give us a powerful 1-2 punch. Yet people still find a way to whine and b****. Oh but harden isos too much. He takes the ball from lin. He gets too many FTs, I hate his constant flailing! He doesnt help the team with his ballstoping play. All he does is pad his stats to make him look like a star. Damn what does Morey have to do to keep you guys happy? He has done what everyone wanted, and that is get us superstars. I guess the b****ing won't ever stop until we get another championship. /rant
Harden should be in the top 10, but honestly it doesn't matter. The MVP ladder should only be 3 player deep anyways. Anyone in the 4-10 range have no chance.
Lately been playing better, but normally don't keep it going for too long. Hopefully he can change my mind.
1. Rockets expectations were high this year. 2. Harden hasn't had any signature national TV games. 3. Rockets haven't exceeded expectations. 4. Harden's defense is a national story in a bad way. 5. He doesn't have that WOW factor that other superstars possess. 6. His teammate, Dwight Howard is arguably as valuable. Harden is a top 10 player. I don't think he's an MVP candidate because only Lebron and Durant are MVP candidates (Chris Paul can enter the conversation).
I can find 20 players better than Lowry so why aren't they in MVP discussion? Lowry shouldn't be in it. That doesn't mean Harden should be.
So who should replace Lowry and is currently playing better than harden. Just name 10 if you can't name all 20?
I never think highly of Lowry so any 20 players you can name is better than him and that includes Harden. In saying that no one should be in MVP contention if they are not named LeBron or Durant. The rest are just also rans and you would get a difference player in any given month. What is the big deal for Harden not being one of the also rans?
I love his offense. I hate his defense. Even when he comes up with a steal it's a gimme. MVP's are superstars and Harden is not a superstar. Superstar (IMO) is a player who plays on both sides of the court. A guy who is consistently looking at other players (primarily Howard) when the guy he is guarding gets past him time and time again is getting old.
That's your problem, flawed logic. I said I can find 20. I never said I am going to name 20 for you. Both Lowry and Harden shouldn't be in it. The problem is why Lowry is in it and not why Harden is not in it.
Kevin Love is 6th in the ranking, Steph Curry is 5th, Kyle Lowry is 10th. A lot of the arguments here is that "if X player is in it, Harden should be too". You are trying to argue that "X player does not deserve to be on it, neither does Harden". However, the problem with your argument is you are arguing different things. You are using your criteria to determine who deserves to be MVP, but that isn't what the topic is about. The topic is about why the league writers are not recognizing Harden when they are giving recognition to X player who arguably have done less than Harden has for this team. In other words, the argument is why Harden is not in the MVP discussion based on the standards of the league writers, whiles you are trying to argue that based on your standards for what constitutes MVP, neither Harden nor Lowry should be in it and therefore people should not be complaining.
What do you consider a signature game? 11-7 vs Lakers 35pts, 9reb, 5 ast, 2 blk, 4 steals 11/14 vs NYK 36pts, 9 reb, 2 ast, 1 steal 12/25 vs SA 28 pts, 6 reb, 6 ast, 2 blk Those aren't signature games? How many players other than LBJ or KD have had 3 games like that on national TV this season?
