well said. people tend to forget we didn't have a lot of cap room after the sighing and didn't want to tie
up future cap in bench signings.

So, what do you guys think an reasonable estimate of what Jones' upside is? How good is he likely to be in his prime?

Not very nice. At least let the guy get sober first before you try and trade him.

It all depends on his jump shot. He is very confident finishing. Asik and Howard will sometimes shuffle their feet when getting out of control under the hoop while Jones is natural finisher around the rim with smooth power-dribbles, reverses and ability to finish athletically with either hand. He is very good at attacking the hoop at angles, but I've noticed he can struggle against a larger opponent going straight on.

I think the sky is the limit on Jones, but he needs to make himself a threat from more than 5 feet, especially next to Dwight. His only real move now is that pump fake, which isn't bad, but he'll have take his 3-pont % out of the 20's because defenders will soon stop biting. Parsons struggled early in his rookie year with this too. One can only dream T-jones gets to 40%.

Jones has much better handles than anyone realizes. He seems to have slowly earned McHale's trust in pushing the ball himself. He rarely tries to do too much. Jones is also one of the better shot blockers in the league.

He's averaged 13 and 10 over his last 10 games in only 31 minutes. 12 and 12 over his last 5 games. McHale seems to like him at around 31 or 32 minutes and Jones pretty much averages a double-double when given those minutes.

As far as comparing him to other players, I'd say Josh Smith or maybe Shawn Marion. He reminds me of a hybrid between Robert Horry and your favorite, Carl Herrera.

He is def going to be one of the main piece as a young talent to go in exchange for that 3rd star (k.LOVE) hopefully when the time comes.

Out of all those names, Parsons is the only one that will be staying. Les will pay the tax and we will get that 3rd star in the form of Love or Aldrige to pair next to DH12 and Harden.

ONCE AGAIN, YOU ARE NOT GETTING IT!! I totally understand the amount of Cap Space we had available but what you are not getting is the type of players DM is bringing to the table.

The drafting of Canaan!! He is another midget point guard, who we did not need for this team, we needed a wing player, someone to backup Harden. Canaan hasn't hit a three ALL season, in Pre-Season he was 0-fer. I understand it's still early but he hasn't shown nothing..he can't shoot!! I would've taken Glen Rice, Jr. (a 6'6" guard who flourished in you D League system).

You can't blame the Yao and T-Mac fiasco all on CD, Morey was just as much to blame. He drafted Joey Dorsey (6'6"), who he said was a new age center!!! Passing up DeAndre Jordan and Omer Asik. (7ftrs). When we had Chuck Hayes, another 6'6" center , Luther Head, a 6'3" shooting guard, who was streaky at best, Aaron Brooks, a 5'11" point guard, and Carl Landry, a 6'7" power forward.

Morey had several years with Yao and T-Mac to put together a team that would've given T-Mac some help and Yao some rest. I totally understand the team having to play through these recent injuries but to not go out and bring in someone to backup Harden is assine!

Can't understand why people want to trade our young players so quickly? How about giving them a chance to develop and grow at Houston?

Wait jones smokes weed? The minute he gets high trade him + harden for harrison barnes + david lee. Imagine the rockets/warriors rivalry then! They'd have harden + curry and we'd have lee+ dwight.

I can't believe the haters on this board. The man (T-Jones) got 19/17 and 3 blocks. As far as his alleged smoking? So what! John 8:7 "So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." This is our 4(for now) He's a kid. They make mistakes. He's a hard working/contributing part of our team. In time he will get better. Ceiling is still high.

I may be missing something, but I believe use of "several" imply more than 2, which means 3+.

Even if let's say Morey as the true GM in CD's final year. I don't believe this, but let's just say he was.

    Year 1: Added Battier
Year 2: Added Scola, Landry, Brooks, Yao season-ending injury in the midst of a 22-game winning streak.
Year 3: Added Artest. T-Mac career-ending injury. Yao career-ending injury.

Can you point to the "several" years which Morey could've prevented their injuries?

Unless we get back an All Star caliber player, we need to avoid trading Terrence Jones with Asik. Can you imagine how good this guy could be if he can develop a somewhat consistent jumpshot either from 3 or something midrange? It would be scary. That should be all he does this summer. No more stomping on homeless people. I really want Millsap, but he may be only a rental with 1 year left on his deal and Morey fishing for bigger fish. Give up Asik and something else. Anything else outside of the core. Yes he is inconsistent, but look around the league, most role players are. That is why they are role players. They play well in spurts.

He is putting together games with points and rebounds that we haven't seen the likes of since the grizzled and battle tested veteran Luis Scola left town. If you add blocks into that equation, even Scola has to be eliminated from the comparison. Carl Landry, Jordan Hill, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris, Thomas Robinson, etc. None of them put up the type of points and rebound games we've seen from Jones this year and he is doing it all with just raw ability right now. I say he is a keeper unless you're swinging for the fences in which case you have to give up something to get something.

I see his upside somewhere in the Josh Smith meets Lamar Odom range all dependent on if he is willing to put the work in to get better. He has those type of tools in his toolbox though.

Best case scenario, Josh Smith. Worst case, Carl Landry.

Millsap was merely a rebounder coming out of college. It remains to be seen where Jones will wind up in a year or two. If his outside shot gets a bit better he will be a very valuable player that we will regret trading.

When Morey took over and helped contribute to the Battier trade, that was the first mistake then. Battier was always and will continue to be a "GLUE GUY". Anybody knows that "Glue Guys" come a dime a dozen, not at the expense of a #8 pick. The Rockets were searching for a #3 option at the time or a backup point guard (He passed on Rondo and Lowry that year).

Scola has NEVER been an above average Power Forward. NEVER! He's a fan favorite, who couldn't play defense, couldn't play above the rim, nor could he rebound. Landry and Brooks were more or less the same thing....one sided players (You don't surround your Super Stars with nothing but one sided players)

Artest was a good acquisition but I think it was two years too late.

*Look at the Heat current Roster. Outside of the Big Three, you have 4 other players that can give you minutes on both sides of the court; Norris Cole, Bird Man, Chalmers, and Ray Allen. Players that can defend and score if needed. Every Player on the Rockets Roster, outside of T-Mac and Yao, from 2006-2010 were one sided players; Chuckwagon, Head, Brooks, Scola, Landry, on and on. The GM never could build a bench.

Landry was a potent offensive spark, but he can't rebound like Jones. He never put up big double doubles like Jones.
