Agree with both of you. Mods set the tone by stopping posters or not stopping posters.

    Harden straight up delivered tonight.

    That was straight up money.

He would get more points than he is getting, but he wouldn't be able to handle both roles because the primary ball handler needs to be the playmaker of the team.
Lin is a pretty good player who tends to fluctuate, he is not an elite PG like Chris Paul.

When you legitimise, condone and encourage personal attacks and name calling as a form of viable debate then it's hardly surprising that the standards of debate or discussion are going to be poor.

Of course you cannot expect people who like to dismiss the opinion of others by attacking them personally rather than dealing with the substance of what they are saying to look at themselves in the mirror and acknowledge that the problem they are complaining about is a direct result of their own approach and attitude.

Because if they had that level of insight they wouldn't have started the name calling in the first place.

I don't see why Lin needs to be the go to guy. I do think he did a good job for the most part as the primary ball handler last night. But Harden still took 20 shots. That seems like a good balance.

It's brilliant. When Tony Parker scores 27 points on 27 shots people praise Beverly's defense. Yet when John wall scores 23 points on 22 shots the same people say Lin got schooled.

But there are no double standards.

There is little in this world as amusing as rampant hypocrisy.

Tony Parker is light years ahead of Wall
Spurs as a team are lights years ahead of the Wizards
Coach Pop and his system is light years ahead of Wittman

All in all, it is much easier to stop Wall compared to Parker so your comparison is meaningless.

Tony Parker is an efficient player, whereas John Wall is one of the leagues grand high chuckers. The box score really doesn't tell you anything about an individual player's defense.

That's why Morey dishes out the pill and get him. Seriously though, he has many flaws in his game, play him, let him develop or trade him if you change your mind.

I think it was Wall consistently blowing by Lin that makes people say that. He seemed to have trouble finishing tonight, but it really wasn't defense related, rather Wall just blowing layups.

It's a bit easier to see if you aren't looking through Lin colored glasses.

Stop looking at the box score and watch the game. Lin did very little to stop Wall just like he did very little to stop an offensively challenged Marshall. Blown lay ups and missed open jumpers by Wall and Marshall doesn't mean Lin had a great defensive game. Gosh the basketball IQ of some out here....

Well, if bev has a few game playing good d like Lin did last 5 or 6 games, his 'legendary d' will be on the news already. Double standard is the right words to say it. Wait until bev has a 25 points or 13 assist game, then you know full well those sorry lofs are not the worst people in the world. But we might need to wait a while to see that, Harden is our starting PG after all.

Honestly, this crap wouldn't happen if we traded harden for david lee. Lee would help us blowout team without looking back.

Lin did a good job on wall in the first half and most of the third quarter. Towards the end he seemed to tire and then wall did blow by him. Also the team defense was better in the epfrist half, the bigs always came to help when Lin got pic'd but unfortunately that stopped happening in the fourth quarter.

So it was a combination of Lin tiring and not so good team defense that got wall going. Lin does need to improve his stamina. But he scored a lot more efficiently than wall did so at best their matchup was a wash.

Maybe you should take of your Lin hate coloured glasses.

Your 'eye test' is nothing if not consistent. Bev is a goat defender and Lin is a crap defender. Seems like no matter what happens on the court that is what you will see.
