I like your idea, even though I strongly believe it's a fantasy. Now can you imagine how Howard would react to such a scenario? He loves the the media and the limelight, and now he's traded to the Twolves? Oh my "The Humanity"...

Assuming Westbrook's knee does not get amputated before then, he'll join Love in LA a couple years later.

Lol at some of you,I would include anyone besides Howard and Harden to get Dwight,KLove is the best PF and Parsons is not even a top 5 SF.

I am sure Love would want to go to LA.

BUT, I think what is most important to Love is "WINNING." That is what he hasn't done in Minny and it is killing him.

If the Rockets are put in a position to be able to acquire him, I think Love will totally be on board with Houston and Harden/Howard.

Let Love go to LA, we'll just get KD.

That is most likely true. However here's the problem:

There are only 2 franchises in LA and one of them already has a pretty good PF. And most likely the other team is going to sign Carmelo Anthony THIS SUMMER. So unless Paul convinces the Clippers to trade Blake when it becomes clear to Minny that they have to trade Love or lose him for nothing then Love is probably locked out of LA unless something drastically changes with Melo in New York. And even if the Clippers offer Blake for Love, Minnesota is going to get a better offer from either Boston or Atlanta for Love than just Blake straight up.

Yes, theoretically the Lakers could sign Melo this summer and then create the cap space to offer Love the max or close to the max but the Lakers are too smart than to sink that much money into 2 players who essentially play the same position and Melo isn't going to sign a long term deal without a no-trade clause.

There are too many variables at play to assume Love will end up in LA in 2015. Like:

    - If the Carmelo signs with LA for the max, there's no way that they are going to be able to fit Anthony, Kobe AND Love in 2015 unless Anthony and Love decides to take MASSIVE paycuts (like $10 mill per year paycuts).

    - Lets say Kobe decides to retire this year or next year, this will of course change the landscape for the Lakers. They can bring in Carmelo this summer and bring in Love the next summer. But really...is Kevin Love's ultimate goal is to end up being another player standing there while Anthony takes 25-30 shots a game? I'm sure there's mutual respect from the time they played in the olympics together but how is that an ideal situation for Love (or anyone)?

    - What if the Lakers said, "Screw Carmelo, we'll just tank and wait for next summer!". This opens up even more options as Rondo, Millsap, Aldridge, and Marc Gasol become unrestricted free agents. If none of these players sign an extension between now and next summer, the Lakers would probably have their pick of the litter in terms of FA.

-what if Flip finally comes out of denial and trades Love to an attractive big-market team like Houston or Chicago? I don't see why Love wouldn't want to stay in Houston to play with Howard and Harden or see what Chicago can do with him and Rose at the core

Stars think of themselves as chess players, not chess pieces.

For Love, I'd offer Lin, Asik, and one first round pick. That's it. I wouldn't give up Parsons, because there is no guarantee that Love will stay. Other teams would offer more, so there you have it.

Which is why they should have let Kobe walk and go after Durant and Love. It was such a gloriously stupid move to extend Kobe. I still chuckle thinking about it.

Of course, I would do it without any hesitation. It still wouldn't be enough IMO.

    Doesn't make sense.

In 2015, the Lakers will have Kobe at $25 million plus whoever they add this offseason. They won't have any other young or established talent on the team.

The Rockets will have Dwight, Harden, Parsons bird rights, Bev's bird rights, picks, rights to Papanikolaou and Llull, etc. In other words, everything Love could possibly want in a team.

If winning is his #1 priority (besides getting paid), he will make the same decision Dwight did.

at this rate they could have a pretty good young player from the draft this year (assuming they would have their pick this year, not sure if that's the case but I think they would if it's low enough)

Was that before or after Kobe signed his extension? I respect the tidbits that cyberx gives us but I have to think that extending Kobe will play (or has played) a factor in where Love wants to go. Not because of alpha-dog status but because it hampers the Lakers' flexibility to bring any top flight talent to pair with Love.

I guess Love will sacrifice one of his prime years in 2015-16 in hopes that, with Kobe off of the books and hopefully retired, Kevin Durant, Batum, Joakim Noah, or Al Horford wants to come on board in the summer of 2016. Even THAT is a huge gamble for Love to make considering many teams (including Houston) could make a run at Durant.

Jalen also said that Durant will be a Rocket in 2016 and Westbrook a Laker in 2017.

Players can say lots of stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if Love said "I'd like to be a Laker" at some point.

At the end of the day, Love will ask "who is more likely to win", and the answer will overwhelmingly be the Rockest.

You must be newto the NBA because not all players go to teams "to win".
