you absolutely can not make that argument in court or in public. A jury would hate you.

Honestly this kind of stuff happens all the time I'm guessing. It's just how a lot of politicians work.

I actually kinda liked Christie but this pretty much does it in for him.

    Either
A.) he is cruel and will knowingly sabotage the American people for his own gain.
B.) he is incompetent and cannot control an out of control staff

he didn't/wouldn't even gain politically and who the hell is sitting in traffic and says 'man we need a new mayor'. My guess is the act caused the mayor's approval to drop .01%

Christie is just a fatter version of Obama. He signed an anti-bullying law in New Jersey recently. Does the law apply to his treatment of political enemies?

If Hillary can run with blood on her hands from Benghazi, Christie will be just fine.

    Not that I want either.

Hillary would know better to hold this late until after the first or second debate.

It really is slim pickings for the GOP in 2016. I'm not sure what a Christie presidency would be like though, so I can't look forward to that...

Not too happy with a soon to be 68 yro 2016 candidate either.

Makes me realize that my understanding of politics is little to none.

Hilarious that the right has to bring up Hillary in an attempt to divert. You're not successful in diverting attention away from his failures.

If Christie didn't know, that's a huge failure of leadership on his part. If he did know, then it just shows the kind of bully he really is.

So, you'd never be guilty of manslaughter. Only civil penalties would apply to her death.

Yeah, lawyers argue the 'value' of the life lost in civil settlements and decide on the monetary equivalent every day.

The more I think about it I think Christie is probably done after this. The problem with this scandal, even if Christie isn't implicated, is that it fits a narrative that people had already of Christie.

With the way people are falling over themselves trying to figure out how this isn't a death-blow for Christie's presidential campaign, I have to think he's got enough goodwill in the media and populace that people really will find a way to rationalize this away and vote for him anyway. I just won't be one of them. I find myself half-believing him when he says he was blindsided, but I think that speaks very poorly of him. He fosters a culture of low ethical standards, and doesn't stay on top of what his people are doing. I'd prefer a guy who was evil on purpose to one that was evil by accident.

If it went to court, I think that's exactly the argument you would make -- their actions didn't lead directly to her death because she would have likely died even without traffic. It's the prosecution with the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

There probably are some kind of abuse of power or reckless endangerment type charges that could and should be brought, though.

so what's your opinion of Hillary after Benghazi, Obama after the NSA debacle, Holder/Obama after the gun running to Mexico, Obama after the IRS?

    hypocrisy is hilarious

My opinions on those people are outside the scope of this thread, but it's interesting you feel confident to accuse me of hypocrisy when you don't actually know my opinion on any of those people or events.

Is it the end of his career? I hope so but I doubt it.

It's gonna be Christie vs Jeb for the republican nomination.

I disagree that it's interesting. Telling & typical, maybe. Not worth your time: definitely.

You have always struck me as the opposite of a partisan, and I mean that as praise, FWIW.

If any iota of evidence is found that shows that Christie orchestrated this or otherwise knew and was complicit (i.e. no accountability) - then his political career will be swiftly terminated, with zero chance of recovery. Period. He will also have to deal with civil and criminal fallout. If any link is discovered, Christie should resign from his post as NJ governor.

Even if no link is found, I think this severely damages him. He can probably kiss his 2016 presidential aspirations goodbye...may as well not bother running. (I didn't think he had much of a shot to get past the primaries anyway.)

It wouldn't surprise me if many Republican and Democrat politicians are quietly pleased about this development. I get the impression that Christie is not well-liked among political circles.

Breaking Rumor: There is an alleged video about to come out of Christie and Rob Ford smoking crack with gang bangers in Camden.

    Developing...
