I don't even know. I mean chad Morris would be awesome obviously, but as I recall he has a $6m buyout to take an OC position. That seems too steep to work through
I'm guessing Chad Morris. Strong Texas High School ties which covers one of Strong's requirements. The top offense in the country at Clemson covers the part about a big hire.
From $9.95---- 1:10 pm - Two sources close to the situation told Orangebloods.com Chad Morris' buyout at Clemson is too difficult to navigate and Morris can be eliminated from the offensive coordinator search. SOURCES!!!
Where do I paypal u ten bucks for reading that? I keep trying to shove a 20 into the USB slot but no worky.
I heard on 104.9 today that Jerry Gray is coming in for an interview. I'd assume for DC but I only caught the tail end of the report.
Hadn't heard that, but I would be surprised if it were for DC since Bedford is likely coming with Strong. I would also be surprised if it were for DB coach though, as he's simply overqualified.
Sucks about Henderson. I hate that we lost him to the Ags. This coaching change is going to put recruiting behind a year or two. At least we kept our Solid QB. Strong doesn't know Texas. He has to gain a lot of trust. I don't think he can recruit Florida and all of Texas. With Baylor's good year and their amazing facility upgrade, they might be a huge entry to the state recruiting market. We have to get OU out of Texas some how. TUC is now in the big 12 which adds another major conference team to compete with. This is why it's silly to expect Texas to get the best recruits every year. There are so many schools to compete with. Alabama has as 1.5 (ALABAMA has way more pull). LSU has louisiana all to themselves. Florida has taken a nosedive but spliced between Florida St and Florida isn't bad. Miami has faded away a ton. CUE: Texas has the most money and should be doing perfect. ALSO, expect that to take a dip. Mack was a good coach and a good CEO which everyone excepts Strong to pull back from. He is what made Texas as profitable as it is. Disagree all you want but that is absolutely true. Also cue BigTex to say something about UT-Austin branch.
Don't get me wrong, we need help and depth on the defensive line, but I wouldn't be that bummed about Henderson...we have had way bigger misses than that. Last year was one of the deepest in-state DT classes in some time, and we didn't get a single one. This year was the deepest in-state DB class probably ever, and we didn't get a single one of the guys considered elite. The coaching change isn't hurting recruiting that much - 4 years of mediocrity and Baylor's/A&M's success is. Win some games, and we'll be fine. A couple of Louisville commits reached out to Strong as well and are coming in for visits.
