Would be kinda funny to have Bynum back up Howard. Just a couple of years ago, Bynum was actually in the conversation for 2nd best center in the league.

This reminds me of the late 90's. Dawson and Rudy T tried so hard to replace Robert horry that we ended up with a roster full of 6'9-6'10 3/4 tweeners with the exception of Eddie Griffin. I think they all had that standard 6 year $42 Mil contract. Mo Taylor, Kenny Thomas, Laanghi, Terrence Morris. Now we tried so hard to get a big man over 6'10 we might have 4 7 footers on the roster if we get Bynum and/or Camby comes back cheap. Assets I suppose. I look at it like this though. If Asik and Bynum are rotting at then end of our bench, then they ain't guarding Dwight in the playoffs.

Reminds me of when cfans debated if we should sign Shaq for the vet min to backup Yao, lol

Also, hell no...I'm nearly certain that Bynum will clash with Dwight at some point in the season

Do we still have the $2.652 million "room exception" to outbid the other suitors with?

Difference between Bynum vs. Royce White situation: Bynum would actually play.

Difference between Bynum vs. Omer Asik situation: Bynum would actually play.

It might not have occurred to some here, but having a player who is *actually willing to play* is a completely different situation than a situation involving a player who has an endless fount of excuses not to set foot on the court. We NEED a backup 5. Asik isn't doing it for whatever reason, and he's given no indication that that is going to change any time soon.

As long as Bynum understood that he would be playing limited minutes behind Dwight, and it was an appropriate contract with team options, I see no downside to this. Get it done, Morey.

A motivated Bynum paying for a contender for 15 minutes a game is ideal, sign him.

    Hell yeah!
    1. He doesn't go to Miami.
    2. He doesn't go to Clippers.
    3. He doesn't go to Dallas.
    4. He can be an effective back up.
    5. If he doesn't play, we pay $3mil to make sure 1,2,3 happens.
    6. Bynum will be motivated to swindle one more big contract.
    7. Asik becomes even more expendable.
    8. 48mins of rim protection...he he. (Insert Jason Collins joke)
    9. Cheap low risk / High reward.
    10. Kobe will burn even more.
