I'm not sure if MS gave updated numbers like this recently, but I'd expect something along similar lines (scaled to the userbase).

Tbh there is no incentive to buy either console atm...

 

Xbox One - available in 13 countries
PS4 - available in 48 countries.

Keep that in mind, both consoles are doing fine. It's too early to give the sales lead to either one when both haven't reached all of their markets.

 

While I agree with that point (essentially said as much earlier, though I think both being supply constrained in a bigger issue), I suppose one could make the argument that the remaining markets for the XBO likely won't affect sales too much for the platform. It is possible that MS might change things with the XBO, but the markets that generally make up the vast majority of XB sales already have access to the system.

XBO could end up selling more, but I think it will be due more to huge gaps in the US, UK, Australia, etc., rather than catching up in sales in some of these other regions. Of course, MS could actually try to do better in some of those regions, but I'm not sure they really are interested in doing so thus far. Not necessarily that important to win the global sales for them. Winning in the US (and maybe a few other of these markets) is probably their primary goal.

 

Respawn confirmed TF will only be 6v6 with npc bots. There's a huge uproar over this on NG. I'll admit, I'm disappointed, but I'm not looking forward to this game as much as some others are.

 

It's weird seeing people arguing over shady sales figures.

Both systems are selling great. It's awesome for anyone that bought either system. To think that together they've sold around 7 million systems in just a few months, it's a great sign.

I don't think you can go wrong with either system. We all make a choice of system based on different things. What ever choice you make, you're making the right one.

 

im sure both are selling great.. all i have is from my own personal experience..
on several occassions over the holidays and past week I have walked into Target and they had several (5-7) xbox ones in inventory while NO PS4's. Same story at Gamestop. Xbox ones in stock no PS4s to be found.... what does that mean? perhaps nothing.. heh

 

i owned both the Xbox 360 and PS3 and the Wii...
Right now I just have the PS4.. my main reason for choosing the PS4?

I think people can argue about sales figures all day long.. but at the end of the day it comes down to the games.. I personally enjoyed the Uncharted series and Last of Us more than any game I played on last gen's consoles so thats another reason for me to choose the PS4. But graphics are a big part of the gaming experience and the PS4 is just more powerful and it's already evident in the first batch of games that the Ps4 has better graphics.. This is not going to change over the life of the console. . This is FACT.

I think 6v6 is a decent number. I prefer smaller multiplayer team games like 5v5. 6v6 with the AI bots they have should still feel "epic". They're supposed to be fodder, not other pilots it'd be bonkers with everything going on.

 

My issue is, with such a small player count, the maps will most likely be small. What's the point of having Titans in a small map? At least bump the map up to a medium size. It's like flying a helicopter around in a small map, it's kinda pointless.

My other issue is, npc/ai bots? Why couldn't that be other human players instead? Why didn't they give people the choice to scale down the number of players instead of making it small in the first place? Lets say you get 26 kills, but 18 kills are against bots. Who cares?

I'm sure the game will probably end up being good, but I think they have some odd design choices. Did they make these decisions based on the hardware? I would have at least liked to see 8v8. 6v6 is small enough where if one of your teammates drop or leave a game, your team is pretty much doomed to lose.

 

I'm pretty sure it's tuned that way because they felt it was optimal to gameplay. It's being released on 360/PC/XBone. I think you're worried about things that will be resolved when you play the game, they've said the maps are decent sized. They've also said if you can see something, you can likely go there. The AI bots in the games don't have the same abilities as players, you will know you're fighting a bot instantly. Who is to say someone else won't pop in if they disconnect? I couldn't say; they're pretty crafty coders over there. I'm sure titan / pilot / npc kills will score differently or will all accumulate somehow. Trust me dude, you're going to want to play this game. This isn't supposed to be like other shooters, it's an evolution.

Duh of course as developers learn how to develop for the systems graphics will improve on both systems. Actually almost all the games currently on both systems are not maximizing the systems powers but it is FACT that the PS4 has better graphics and will continue to have better graphics simply because its FACT its more powerful than the Xbox One.
No amount of fan boyism blindess is going to change that FACT. I am not trying to say the PS4 is a better system. Like I said owned both the PS3 and 360 in the past. I might end up getting the Xbox one if I want to try out kinect or if there are exclusives that I like but for right now I bought the PS4 simpy because I think it's going to provide a larger graphical leap than the last gen systems and I personally enjoy Sony's exclusives a bit more. Not trashing the Xbox One or anything but you can't deny that games look better on the PS4.

Funny how you mention Forza because I love the Forza series on the 360 and I was curious to see it on the xbox one. Sure the car details/reflections look nice but the tracks and environment are not that much better than last gen. They rushed the game out for launch which is evident in the number of tracks and cars. Does the game look good? yeah it does but still not a huge leap in my opinion.

The games that show off the next gen graphics difference is COD and Battlefield and in some aspects NBA2k. Both COD and Battlefield look significant better on the PS4 and this is FACT! PS4 runs in 1080p and XB1 in 720p for COD. Below are the reasons why from a HARDWARE standpoint on why the PS4 is more powerful.

So in summary the two systems actually have really similar CPUs but the PS4 has the huge advantage when it comes to RAM and GPU power. FACTS you can not overlook or deny.

Also another not so important to me but hey it's a nice bonus is the physical device. PS4 looks so slim and futuristic wit the light bar running across the top. It's just a nice looking compact system that feels nice too. The XB1 on the other hand is this HUGE block of cheap plastic. Yes the plastic feels hollow and cheap. In addition it has this HUGE power brick while the Ps4 has a internal power supply all in half the size. I'm not sure why the Xb1 is so damn large. This may or may not be important to some people but I just thought it was a nice bonus.

 

I personally plan to buy the PS4 before the Xbox One myself, but just wanted to play devil's advocate here by saying that you never know if a lot of developers might decide to target their development efforts at optimizing for Xbox One and more-or-less porting that over to PS4. If that were the case for a lot of games, consumers would not actually see a lot of difference in the way multi-plats look, regardless of how much more powerful the PS4 clearly is.

 

true true but developers usually target the better selling system as their development platform.. at this point in time the PS4 is outselling the XB1 by 1.2 million units. Also if early indicators are reliable looks like developers are using the PS4 as their development platform. (COD, Battlefield, Assasins Creed, etc all run at higher resolutions and framerate on PS4.)

Also the exclusives are where you see a huge graphics difference. For the most part of last gen the 360 was used as the lead development platform. This is the main reason why games on the PS3 looked worse. GTA4 being the main highlight. By GTA5 the gap was all but closed and both games looked equally awesome. I think the PS3 version actually had better performance due to a single bluray disk and it looked like Rockstar finally got around to developing for the unfriendly PS3. PS3 had sharper textures and less pop in and overall it ran smoother. Technically the PS3 was slightly more powerful. For the most part you saw no difference between the two and like I said eariler some time it actually looked better on the 360. But the exclusives are where you saw the gap between the two systems. For example games like Last Of Us . There is nothing on the 360 that looks as good as that game.

MGS4 was the first PS3 exclusive I played where I got that hit of "whoa, yeah, ok, I don't see anything of this graphical quality on the 360." I would definitely expect to see that even more with the exclusives this gen because of the bigger power gap. Those multiplats though... even in the most extreme cases, you'd often need a side-by-side comparison before you really see the difference. So I'm just not going to put that out that as an end-all be-all reason to get a PS4 over an Xbox One.

A pay-gate to use Netflix, on the other hand...
