Coastal bias still works against Houston well after a player is done playing. If biggio plays in a top 3 market, he would have been a first ballot guy.

Definitely. I think that was one of the reasons I was so excited about this year when it looked like Biggio was going to get in. I think I felt extra excited that a Houston player would finally be recognized for all he did during his career and for the game despite playing in Houston.

I'm used to Houston guys in all sports having their contributions to the games being overlooked. It seemed like finally one of the guys who not only put up the great numbers but also played the game hard, and with pure love the game was about to be recognized universally, not just by the Houston crowd. I was really excited that maybe everyone actually saw in Biggio what those of us who watched him for his career actually saw.

    What a huge disappointment.

That doesn't mean that those voters didn't also vote for biggio.

Each writer can vote for up to 10 players.

Why is Frank Thomas absolved of PED suspicions?

Huge disappointment. Maybe they both get in next year.

Is Bagwell going to get in? Seems like he gonna have to wait a few more years, if he gets in at all. Which, I'm not sure he will.

    41.7%
    56%(+14.3%)
    59.6%(+3.6%)
    54.3%(-5.3%)

I'm always wary of the vote projection.

The people who reject Biggio (or even Maddux for gods sake) are less likely to make their ballots public because they can't defend them.

Bagwell may never get in, it seems we've reached a glass ceiling on PED suspects, some voters are simply entrenched on no if even suspected.

In seeing a ton of coverage that biggio NOT getting in is almost a bigger story than those getting in this year.

That will certainly help his cause. Just a shame that the idiocy needs to be exposed before people admit how idiotic it is.

Another stacked ballot next year, Bags won't get in. Unit, Pedro, Biggio, Smoltz

Thanks to internet/social media, this sort of bipolar coverage will be improved for future Houston players... But it won't help Biggio now.

I think his prospects have certainly taken a hit. Some of his regression is due to the stacked ballot; it alleviates *a little* next year - but I think he's now, officially, going to have a struggle on his hands.
