I'm trying to understand why the UH game keeps being talked about. Is that the basis for whether he's the number 1 pick? So if he threw 400 and 4 tds no one would be questioning him? It just seems so random that this game is being brought up. Is it even the worst of his college career? Are you not allowed to have a bad game in college? I don't know a whole lot about college football but after reading up on everyone it really seems like the anti Bridgewater crowd are doing a poor job of discrediting him. There are a couple people in here that harp on the same thing but seem to ignore similar facts about other players. There are far more question marks on literally every other # 1 prospect out there that's not Jake Matthews.
lol jake matthews isn't even the #1 OT prospect... anywho.. there are legit concerns with Matthews, but I would take him over Eric Fisher and Luke Joeckel.
lots of chatter about greg robinson being the top OT... here is one link: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/cfb/132166/greg-robinson
People have the mindset of "ITS UH, TEDDY SHOULDVE CRUSHED THEM BY 3TD" but discredit the fact that UH had one of the best defenses in College Football this past season.
That's what you took from my post? My point was that there are flaws with every prospect available but a couple people here are hanging on some fairly thin ones with Bridgewater and ignoring ones with everybody else. If you want safe then Matthews is probably the safest of all of them. However I want no part of the texans drafting an offense lineman.
19/29 with 203 yards 0 TDs and 0 INTs, is just terrible, I KNOW!!! That was my point, just like you guys say that we can't base Teddy's talents on one game, you can't pin point his faults by one game (in which his team still won BTW). Johnny is what he is. A party boy with talent and ability to create a big play out of nothing. Usually without the dedication to the game (instead of the club) it leads you to becoming that guy that had it all but just couldn't put it all together. Look what happened to Michael Vick (not saying Johnny will get locked up) but because he got himself into shady business with the dumb crowd he paid for it. Where were all his party friends when he was gone for those two years? NO where to be found. In the other O'Brien QB thread we have been discussing the guys that dedicated themselves to their craft. You don't see VY, Jerome Simpson, Pacman Jones, or Rolando McClain's on that list... Also, if you watch his games and see his stats he DID dominate that conference. The one part that didn't dominate was his defense, resulting in their one lose versus UCF. Check out his stats: VS. Ohio - 23/28 355 yds. 82.1 Comp.% 5TD 1INT VS. Eastern Kentucky - 23/32 397 yds. 71.9 Comp.% 4TD 0INT @ Kentucky - 16/28 250 yds. 57.1 Comp.% 1TD 0INT VS. Florida International - 17/22 212 yds. 77.3 Comp.% 4TD 0INT @ Temple - 25/35 348 yds. 71.4 Comp.% 2TD 0INT VS. Rutgers - 21/31 310 yds. 67.7 Comp.% 2TD 1INT @ South Florida - 25/29 344 yds. 86.2 Comp.% 3TD 0INT @ Connecticut - 21/37 288 yds. 56.8 Comp.% 1TD 1INT VS. Houston - 19/29 203 yds. 65.5 Comp.% 0TD 0INT VS. Memphis - 26/36 220 yds. 72.2 Comp.% 1TD 0INT @ Cincinnati - 23/37 255 yds. 62.2 Comp.% 3TD 1INT VS. Miami - 35/45 447 yds. 77.8 Comp.% 3TD 0INT Perfect article that sums up Teddy's season. If you read all the way thru, you'll see the reasons for some of the unexplosive games he didn't have this past season. I can't believe everyone is questioning Manziel's work ethic. Dude spent a large portion of the offseason completely revamping his mechanics with George Whitfield. Just because his fun is seen in the spotlight doesn't mean he parties all day and all night.
Nope.. People have the mind set that Teddy didn't face alot of good competition and when he did he struggled.
I don't even know if Jake Mathews is any good seeing how Johnny was his QB... Not like Johnny stands in the pocket long...
Your opinion is better than most NFL scouting experts. Would read again. There is plenty of NFL talent in the secondary's in which Teddy played. You have your mind made up and stick with it. You have yet to put a valid argument together in this thread.
There you go again... All on this TMZ stuff with Johnny... You don't know what Johnny does 24/7 are how hard he dedicates himself to football. You're just on your moral high horse and what you assume. Pretty much just hating. You're not bringing up his performance on the field just talking club stuff... But when I bring up Teddy _ you make excuses and say stuff like "At least they won the game"... Guess what _ Bortles beat Teddy and Lance said that Jerry Angelo said he would take Johnny (not Teddy) and he said Bortles would probably be more of the kind of guy O'Brien would like... So we'll see how it plays out...
