I confused you with someone else I thought was anti-PS4. I wanted a critical opinion before I ordered a PS4 with NBA 2k14 and CoD:Ghosts....but now that everything will arrive tomorrow I'm not sure I want to hear it anymore. I understand your reasons for disliking the PS, but I really only play CoD and NBA 2k which is on both consoles. I heard the PS4 had better hardware and it's $100 less. I also heard the Xbox One had ads which is lame. I am in no way a fanboy, and I am sure even you agree the PS4 is the right choice considering I only care about 2 games. I'm just hoping they release GTA 5 for PS4. Just searched it up and I can't buy the PS3 version of GTA 5 since it is not backwards compatible.
That is special considering it's been impossible for me to get my hands on a PS4. Thank you Amazon for flashing in stock when I randomly searched them again. They were gone again after I completed my order (and I was QUICK) which sucks for others who wanted one. Imagine if Sony could actually supply the demand for PS4s. They would have easily sold double the XB1 by now. Unfortunately, they actually have to ship them to get them to the states. I'm sure it lost them a few sales to the XB1 over the holidays, but I am sure they will outsell Microsoft by a wide margin unless they drop their price (which they can't do for at least a year without looking bad, so they will probably try bundling it with games). Every Gamestop I called answered the phone trying to force an XB1 in my hands. They knew what I was calling about and they all told me I had to buy every PS4 game in existence and some warranty to get my hands on one. Same for Newegg (who I liked before). No retail stores had them either.
I am not anti-PS4 at all. I plan on buying a ps4 sometime in late 2014/early 2015 once it gets better exclusives. And yeah, for someone like you who only plays cod/nba 2k, i'm not too sure if the choice is as clear as you think. For one, nba 2k14 runs equal at 1080p/60 frames on both systems. And for CoD, the difference is pretty minor. And since your a cod fan, i assume you are interested in titanfall, which won't be out on playstation platforms. in addition, xbox users get cod dlc a month early. Choose wisely. If you feel like the PS4 better suits your needs, then buy one, if you think the xbox one better fits your needs, than buy that. $100 more for a system that is going to last 7+ years is irrelevant in my opinion.
I saw the same on IGN. It really isn't close, but the gap may shrink with time. As for Titanfall, I don't understand the hype on it. It looks decent, but people are bringing it up like it's Halo, Uncharted, God of War, etc... I'm just curious as to how it's a game changer I guess. Not bashing it.
It's going to be outstanding, but I'm playing it on PC. The movement, along with Respawn's (Original Infinity Ward members) tried and true gunplay, with some mechs thrown in as a killstreak type thing look great. It looks addictive on par with the original Modern Warfare.
This difference will persist throughout the system's life, too, since it occurs when the platform doesn't have enough power to render at the higher resolution smoothly. As games' graphics engines become more complex and require more power, Xbox One titles will continue to be pigeonholed into smaller native resolutions. Xbox fans try and say it's not a big deal, but it really is.
They announced backwards compatibility today for old PS1,2 and 3 games....yeah....that was a good move. DD
Via the cloud. I'm still dubious as to how the latency will affect the service though, especially games that require twitch reactions. Edit: Seems like the same as the current remote play for PS4 on the Vita, but using Sony's servers for computations and video streaming instead of your own PS4. Services like this always seem sketchy to me because I don't feel our internet providers are up to the task here in the United States yet. Perhaps Japan and South Korea, which have some of the fastest average internet speeds in the world, but here? Ehhh... we'll see, I guess.
Its comments like this that are silly...the xbox is very capable of 1080p and 60 fps...the gap on multiplat games will shrink. Wait and see the next COD, the game will be identical on both systems.
I'm not so sure about this. As games get more graphically intensive, the XBone will continue to struggle to run them with similar effects while maintaining the resolution and frame rate. It's just the limitation behind the hardware. I don't think COD games are the reference points though. I do agree that they will probably look the same on both systems, but this gen, we are going to get a lot more games that were strictly on the PC before, and those seem like they are going to run better on the PS4.
Let's try and revisit this in a year or two and see who's silly. PS4 and Xbox One's hardware will not change. Software might, which can help, but there will always be the hardware limit. It's a fact the Xbox One is less powerful than the PS4. Games will improve graphically over time (just look at PS3/360's first generation of games vs. its last) and become more taxing on the system, maximizing its capabilities. I'm just saying if the current CoD incarnation already maximizes the Xbox One's capability to the point it must be constrained to 720p, then that doesn't bode well for the future.
This is kind of CONSOLE WARZ stuff, but... CoD is a bad example (it is so poorly optimized), but in general, the XBO has suffered when it comes to resolution and IQ (and likely will, relative to the PS4). This is primarily due to some pretty big differences in ROPs and bandwidth IIRC. It CAN do 1080p, but it will be more difficult in comparison to the PS4. Whether devs push for 1080p on XBO depends on the amount of work they want to put in, how they design their engines/games, and a number of other factors. Remains to be seen how that will play out. Though 1080p AND 60 FPS is a bit of a pipe dream for most games. On either platform. Sadly, most devs would shoot for 30 FPS (with more effects) rather than going with 60 FPS. FWIW, I might recommend some of you check out old videos/reviews/impressions on Gaikai (before Sony bought them). Might give you some idea of how well it will work in certain regions, for certain games, etc. Though I guess thinking about it like a better Remote Play might also be fairly accurate.
Not being single sucks sometimes. GF wants to watch movies on the new 65" and I can't get more than 30 mins of gaming in. I ended up buying a 3DS XL for the meantime.
Do what I did. Get a smaller second TV (I went 37"), and play games WHILE watching movies with the lady-friend. Just last night I was playing Fifa while watching The Shield. Not that there isn't plenty of awesomeness on the 3DS. If you've never given Monster Hunter a shot, I highly recommend Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.
At the end of the day, I think a lot of us knew that the PS4 would be the better gaming console. I ended up finally deciding on a console. I went with the XB1. It came in this past weekend and I'm thoroughly impressed. For a casual gamer, it feels like a next gen console to me. The things I thought I wouldn't care about is what makes me happy with the purchase. The NFL app is detailed and simply SICK. The voice control works better than I expected. It's also a lot more family friendly.
