Because he doesn't posses any particular skill set or any physical attributes that set him apart . He is however good fundamentally but many feel you can take an exceptional athlete or a guy with a cannon for an arm and teach him fundamentals , hence greater upside if you are successful .

Agreed. The skillset setting TB apart is his football IQ and the fact that he's called plays from the LOS in a pro-style offense for the last couple years. He's mentally light years ahead of other QBs and ought to fit well with O'Brien's offensive philosophies. He's smart, tough, a leader, has nice pocket presence, and some good physical attributes. He's skinny, but will put on weight in an NFL conditioning program, so he's got the potential to continue to get better.

manziel has already put up better numbers against much better competition. JFF is the better player RIGHT NOW. bridgewater is nothing special and your argument is nonsense. and i say all this as an aggie hater.

all qbs play in a system. was it the system during the comeback v duke w/ johnny scrambling around for dear life to extend plays?

    I HATE AGGIES!

he could be the ONE this franchise needs to take us out of mediocrity.
chances are he busts. i'd like to take the chance. i was listening to steve young stating that football IQ is off the charts. his physical gifts are aplenty. okay, he's not 6.4... so what.

    edit: for emphasis:
    I HATE AGGIES!

But this particualr system is known to inflate stats. If you want to talk about mechanics, arm strength, etc...well that's a different story. Don't bring up stats because if it came down to that, a gang of quarterbacks could have flourished in the NFL. Nick Florence says HI.

Anyway, if you want to bring up stats, Teddy B was great as well.

there are many qbs with GREAT mechanics that are **** to mediocre.
there are so many factors that translate into success.
manziel has great footballIQ and won't be phased by the spotlight.

Is he willing to put the time on and off the field to be an elite quarterback? You can't say with certainty that he will.

He is all about the spotlight. That we can agree on. Of course, he would be at last night's game.

    Yeah, that's it.

You must not know what our new coach looks for in a QB. A partnership.

Manziel won't be texting him at 11 pm bc he'll be out partying. Vince Young had similar red flags.

I get that you would like to take that chance but it doesn't mean our coach will. "Chances are he busts." LOL okay?

Manziel works his ass off, off the field. You can party and be good. Like Aldon Smith. Manziel's douchey antics may be blown out of proportion. Maybe they're not. We'll see. He works hard though.

Peyton, Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Eli don't have that stigma.

Lebron doesn't party. Sorry man, but I don't want my team taking a chance. This pick will shape our future, for better or worse.

WHAT?? You're not sold when he made the comparison to the guy who just missed a chunk of the season due to behavioral issues? I want JFF, but that argument along with "BUT I'M AN AGGIE HATER" are pretty shoddy.
