There's a few points I don't agree with, but I'll point out this one. Show me in history where the general masses loyalty is to a brand? We saw the fall of Nintendo from the Snes > N64, PS2 > PS3, Wii > WiiU.

By your logic, the WiiU should be selling gangbusters. They're the oldest brand of the three and nearly everyone knows the Super Mario Bros theme song.

Wii looked like a loser early in its life. Wii U has been doing better since releasing better games this year.

The Wii actually sold very well early on. Certainly much better than the Wii U. If you wanted to pick a console for your comparison from that generation, the PS3 would be a better one IMO. 3DS (and maybe the DS IIRC) would also work well I believe.

Talking actual sales of course. The Wii was not well received prior to launch (well...sort of...it wasn't received well by the "hardcore" would be more accurate). But once it actually went on sale, it sold very well.

I probably should get a Wii U at some point, especially with games like X coming up. Of course, that would mean I wouldn't be interested in sales discussions anymore, using some of the logic in this thread.

The WiiU's problem is that is not much of an upgrade to the older Wii. They added a touch screen controller to a system whose selling point is motion gaming. People are not stupid. Sony is a company known for a wide variety of electronics for YEARS. Walkmans, TVs, VCR, DVD players....etc.

I guess I look at is as a gamer, since I was very much one back then. Nobody seemed to care about Wii (it seemed gimmick only). Those I know that got one did so mearly because it was so much cheaper. PS3 had crappy sales due to high price and supply problems (to go along with losing some exclusives).

I'll be getting a Wii U for my kids eventually, probably not until next Christmas though.

Sure they care. However, the difference is the Xbox fans boys have not focus solely on numbers. You visit Xbox forums they are focus on games and MS ability to improve the system with updates. Plus, the various issues that come with a new consoles. PS4 forums have been dominated by PS4 is outselling XB1 in Europe..etc., "I can go into a Best Buy and find a XB1 and they haven't had a PS4 in weeks.....See, the XB1 is not selling" Blah, Blah.

Focus on your system, the sales will take care of themselves. Sony is already going to have to revised the Dual Shock 4' analog stick rubber because it's crap and peeling for a lot of users. Sony having to deal with p*rn in "Playroom". Which is a good problem to have because that means people are buying an accessory at $60 a pop (There is a market for a camera and voice commands after all! lol).

MS will have its issues too. Some missing features in the UI (Battery meter, easy access to friends list..etc) and general performance of the system and online will have to be improved with system updates.

    Marathon vs. Sprint.

And in only 13 countries, compared to PS4 being available in 48 countries. Keep that in mind....

I promise you that is only because they feel the numbers aren't in their favor. If they felt they were, the MS fanboys would be the ones trumpeting numbers.

    DING DING DINGGGGG

And? PS4 has sold more than 3 million, they just haven't announced specifics and Microsoft chose to announce theirs. Come on here.
They can only manufacture so many at a certain time, they chose to send their allocation to many countries as opposed to a more narrow market.
If they had sent their entire nut to the US they would have sold out the same way it is currently.

I almost forgot, none of this **** matters.

Any news on the Zelda for the Wii U? Or Smash Bros? That's what I'm waiting on before I buy one.

You mean the new Zelda game that isn't part of the Zelda franchise? I'm looking forward to that, even though I'm not too familiar with that battle style.

Wonder when Wii U will get its own Zelda Franchise game. Every system has at least one.

PS4 apparently sold through 4.2M units through December 28th. Both consoles are selling very well. I think maybe even better than a lot of people expected (remember all the people that thought it was too early for a new generation of consoles?). I've been really busy yesterday and today, but if I get a chance, I'll try to post some additional details about the sales.

    Poor Wii U.

Should I just throw away my xbox one because it only sold 3 million? I really don't want to, I've rather gotten used to using it for TV, movies and such. Please, can I keep it?!

Good for both companies, and F U nintendo. No good games, consoles with random horrific defects that wipe both your wii and wii u history, and limited online gameplay are all the reasons you just suck. I was conned into buying a Wii U, a ponzi scheme based off lies of mariokart and other nintendo exclusive games that may never actually come out.

PS4 should sell more than Xbox One. Its a better hardware for $100 less.

If that was the case Apple would have been dead in the water years ago. User experience also matters, along with preference and ecosystem. For me, with xbox music and xbox video on WP8 it's illogical to even think PS4 unless I didn't already own an XB1.

PS4 is on sale in 53ish countries too, which is a factor.

Though at this point, I think both are selling about as fast as they can produce them. I think XBOs seem to sell a little more slowly (at least in certain regions), but still selling pretty well. At the end of the day, not a huge difference between sitting on the shelf for an hour vs sitting on the shelf for 5 hours (or whatever).

Selling 7M+ next-gen systems in something like 6 weeks is pretty crazy. Especially when you factor in that both are still launching in more countries, and neither seems to be in good supply.

Hey, me too... WiiU is the only "next-gen" system I own right now. Still waiting to pick up a PS4 until Fifa 15 comes out. Xbox One, I don't even know when.
