Who exactly said Schaub was elite? I certainly don't recall and have always hated him as a player. I suppose that is your newest r****ded argument, categorising Bridgewater fans as people who said Matt Schaub was elite. Well news flash for you buddy, there are probably Matt Schaub fans that want to draft Manziel, Clowney, Bortles, trade down, etc etc. You are just proving to the entire board that you have no arguments and are a terrible poster..
Yea because AJ and Hopkins suck, oh also Foster sucks. What are you talking about when healthy We actually have better talent than KC . Forgot to mention we have Cushing if healthy top 5 LB. They said AJ is old and the guy is still beasting
Err.. Their OL is ok. Donald Brown is good. T.Y. Hilton is looking like top 10, if not top 5 WR material. Their TEs are good. Their defense is above average, but currently missing some key pieces. Agree the Texans need to take the best QB available. But the Colts are far from a one-man show.
Dude I said the other talent we have (top talent) besides Brown and J.J. is either injured are old... Foster and Cush are injured _ don't know what they will be like on the field and AJ is old (still good but father time will catch him eventually). Hopkins (who was no where close to being the best receiver in the draft when the Texans drafted him), Merciless, etc. are question marks....
Hopkins was not used enough. Devier Posey is good but was not used. All this is the coaches fault. Hopefully they will be used more with new coach
Go check the chronicle articles from last year and you will see the arguments for Schaub being elite... And if you're not one of them _ don't worry about it but they know who they are... And if you think I'm such a terrible poster _ put me on ignore buddy and you don't have to read my post... And enjoy breaking down that game tape of Bridgewater Mr Expert. Lol..
I actually think Posey is the better of the two... Fact remains as of now Hopkins wasn't the best receiver in the draft and was taking too early and the same probably can be said about Posey. But we'll see how they look under some new coaches...
I think they both have talent just need to be used. Will probably draft a TE since the patriots use a lot of TE sets. We'll see but I'm excited
I think the QB's who play in the Carolina, Seattle, and SF are pretty good. Did Andrew luck have a better season than all those guys?
The debate that you need a "great" QB is slightly overblown. It most definitely helps to have a great QB in order to make it to the playoffs, but you ultimately will need the defense to get you through to win the ring. Look at the playoff records of Rodgers, Manning, Brady, and Brees...they win 59% of their playoff games and have accumulated 5 Superbowl victories. Big Ben, Eli, Flacco, and Sanchez have won 70% of their playoff games and have 5 Superbowl victories...and theyve done it despite having played many seasons less than the 4 elite QBs. Having said that, you take the best available QB any time you have the opportunity. In regards to the Texans, they really have no viable options other than drafting Teddy or Johnny.
This data is skewed significantly by variables other than being a good QB or not. Number of times the teams in the data set played each other, number of times the teams played an additional game in the playoffs due to being lower seed, etc.
Sure, but ultimately, Superbowls matter...and without a very good defense, it doesnt matter who you have at QB once you get to that level of competition in the playoffs. Elite defense with good QB can beat Elite QB with good defense.
I disagree. Donald Brown has been in the league for 6 years and has been unable to hold the starting job, to the point where the Colts traded a 1st round pick on a RB midseason when they lost Bradshaw. He carried the ball 6 times a game this year. No one is ever really going to worry about trying to stop Donald Brown in their game plan. TY Hilton certainly has shown flashes, but he's still developing. He has the chance to be an elite receiver, but he also had 9 out of 16 games this season with less than 50 yards receiving. Their TEs are OK, but there are 15-20 TEs at that level in football. They all look better than they are because of the QB. Without Reggie Wayne, the collection of receivers is not very good. I did underrate the defense though - they've really stepped it up the last several weeks and are now playing like an above-average unit.
Of course. I've made the argument before. If you have a chance at an elite QB though, you always take it. In a vacuum, to get an elite QB you only have to get one player right. To get an elite defense you need to get several. If you did a whole league lottery and let teams pick from every available NFL player, QB would go first every time. Not AP, not Calvin Johnson.
Agreed. If the personnel people and BOB think one of those two is a franchise level QB, take him. Don't trade, don't get cute, etc. If you have a franchise QB on the board, take him.
All of this defense wins super bowls talk is just dumb. You can't draft a defense with one pick. The QB is the single most important position on the field. Anyone who says differently doesn't know what they are talking about. Every team in the playoffs has a good qb. You could argue the top ten best QB's in the league made the playoffs. Of the 4 games this weekend 3 were won by the best QB and even 4 if you acknowledge that Kaepernick's running made him better than Rodgers this weekend. Sure you need a good defense but I repeat you can't draft a whole defense. There is no one player on defense that will impact the game like a QB. We should know that, we have the best defensive player and he could be neutralized. If we would have anyone of the remaining QB's in the playoffs this season we could easily half of the games we lost. The quarterback play was terrible this year for the Texans but we had some other areas that were just as terrible yet replacing offensive tackle or a pass rusher or defensive back would not have the impact of replacing a QB. Obrien knows this which is why he will draft a QB if there is one worth the first overall pick. There is.
Don't get my hopes up don't mess with my emotions y'all really think we could draft johnny number 1?!
