Not necessarily better but he does fit O'B's criteria and when O'B talks about developing a QB it sounds like Bortles is that guy. Im not saying #1 pick by no means.

That's why I never click his links.

It would be nice to take Teddy and sign a guy like McCown for cheap. But I doubt with the 4-5 game stretch he had this season, he would come on the cheap. Maybe Vick or Henne could warm the seat for Teddy.

Well yes of course not no 1, but it would be hard to pass on the best QB ranked this yeR. I really think that Teddy Bridgewater is actually more of what Obrien wants from a QB
See below it has Bridgewater written all over it correct?

I just found this one which picks up right after we selected Mario. Some real gems in that thread - http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=112239

OBrien "sounds" like a coach; Kubiak, at least to me, never did.

Did RIET ever follow through with the $100 to the tip jar, claiming Demeco Ryans would be no better than Jabar Gafney?

Lol, 98% of the posts in that thread were pure idiocy and garbage. I feel embarrassed for Clutchfans.

Not to mention that we were 0-3 against them this year.

I think OB is going to fall in love with Bridgewater during the interview. I could see him studying up all NFL defences of every 32 teams and studying NE's offence and coming in and just calling every play.
I would love to witness the top prospects interviews (Clowney, Bridgewater, Bortles and Manziel). I think Bridgewater will impress with his intellect and study of the game, where Manziel will have that natural je ne sais quoi that will keep a positive experience (like that guy that keeps being sent to the principals office but always gets away with it).
Clowney & Bortles will be terrible.

Sidenote: Re-watching some tape on Teddy, I keep being impressed with his ice-cold demeanor in the pocket. Just swooving by opponents. Very Rodgers-esque.

This is funny as hell... Texans fans evaluating quarterbacks. Some of the same ones who said Matt Schaub is elite. Lol.. Which ever QB you guys want _ I don't...

For some reason, and I don't know why, I feel that the Texans could be back in the Playoffs next year with Manziel but with Teddy B it would be more of a 2-3 year process to get back in the mix.

With Bortles it will be a 2-3 process. Bridgewater since he would have Andre, Deandre, Arian and a better tide end I see playoffs.

This weekend has done nothing but solidify my opinion of taking Bridgewater with the 1st. KC and Cinn are stacked all over the field except at QB. Trading down for more picks should simply not be an option. In today's NFL if your QB play is mediocre you're handicapped regardless of how much talent you have.

Yea, but KC and Cincinnati have talent _ we don't.... We got JJ and Brown. Everyone else is either old, injured, or question marks... No offensive line and no defensive line and not much money to spend on free agents. We are in a much different situation than KC was last year.

His point is that you really need a great QB - without it, the other stuff doesn't matter if even if you excel everywhere. Indy is an example of a team with a great QB and not much else. Their O-line is nothing special. Their RB is terrible. Their receivers are somewhere between bad and mediocre. Their defense is average at best. But they have a QB, and that helps overcome all of that.

The Texans should take the guy they think has the best chance of being that great QB. You don't trade down and hope he's still available or just go with your 3rd or 4th QB choice and hope for the best.

Right. All that talent in 2012 led to a 2 - 14 record, because they were terrible at QB. An upgrade at QB to a B level Alex Smith meant a trip to the playoffs, where they lost to a superior QB.

All of which proves the point that a surplus of roster talent means nothing if you don't have the QB position settled.

Well how do suppose we handle our QB situation?

If you look at who's left in the playoffs, it's a decent case study in "great QB" vs. "great defense".

Great QB: Denver, NO, Indy, New England, San Diego
    vs.
    Great defense: Carolina, Seattle, SF

You can go about it either way.

    Um...

Seattle and Carolina at least have franchise type QBs in addition to great defenses.

SF is debatable right now, but of course, Mort thought Kap was going to be the best QB ever just this offseason!
