So we're New England South now instead of Denver South.

    I'll take it.

Patriots/Texans could be a funny rivalry.

It almost sounds like the Union/Loyalists vs. the Confederacy/Secessionists.

    National pride vs. State pride.

I liked Bill Kollar's personality. Would be happy if he stays.

The only guy I think deserved consideration for retention was Bob Ligashesky, but I ultimately can't fault O'Brian one bit. You don't need the politics that come with holdovers. New guy needs to have a staff that is unified and 100% on board with him.

It's effective when full force with playmakers, but Wade's system is largely one-dimensional and has big areas for exploitation. I said that when he arrived, and we've all seen it in the flesh. When his 5-front havoc is negated or ineffective, the secondary is thin and on an island. As the NFL becomes increasingly pass heavy with 3-4+ guys going out, his system has become more precarious. No lead, No Cushing, No Bueno. And for whatever reason at each of his stops, Phillips teams have done a poor job keeping the roster cupboard full of talent.

It will be very interesting to see what happens if Romeo Crennel installs his traditional brand of 3-4 here. Not enough fans realize that the Phillips 3-4 was a very unique brand and that Crennel's has been the near polar opposite.

Wade loves his 5 man front, with an atypical small nose (really a penetrating DT) and everyone shooting a one gap. Crennel, on the other hand, is nowhere near as aggressive. He does want a big Wilfork- or Dontari Poe NT (something we don't have) and wants all 3 linemen to occupy 2 gaps/2 blockers each. Hopefully, he'll switch that up since it would be a supreme waste to ask JJ Watt to be a space eater.

Guess we're gone for the day/weekend.

Clowney plays pass rusher, not DE. Doesn't mean he'd be a better fit than Barr, he would definitely be out of position somewhat, but he'd still have the opportunity to excel in a new position on the 2nd level.

Kollar is the going to be the only one retained according to many reports. Can't fire J.J.'s coach

Deserves it. Would be strange to fire a man who coaches the best DL player in the NFL.

Munchak will probably be head coach of Penn St...no way a head coach of an NFL team reverts back to being a position coach. Maybe offensive or defensive coordinator, but going to o-line coach becomes a huge demotion.

    Not sure about Matthews.

Could *possibly* mean we won't (completely) switch over to Crennel's typical 3-man, 2 gap front. Still find it hard to believe Earl Mitchell will stay on as a mini-nose (a change I will welcome).

    It

It happens. Jim fassel became a quarterbacks coach, Marty morhninweg became a qb coach, Dave wannstedt became a lb coach, etc.

Not really...it almost never happens where a coach goes directly from being a head coach to a position coach.

Fassel went from head coach of the Giants to offensive coordinator for the Ravens.

Mornhinweg went from head coach to assistant head coach/offensive coordinator.

Wannstedt went from head coach of the Bears to defensive coordinator of the Dolphins. After years of being the head coach of the Dolphins, he went to become the head coach in college. It was only after 6-7 years that he came back to the NFL and started as assistant head coach/LB coach.

Jim Caldwell became the qb coach for the ravens right after being fired as hc of Indy. He ended up the of when they fired cam Cameron mid season.

Rod marinelli became dline coach for the bears immediately after being fired by the lions.

These are top of the head names without doing research. It happens.

In fact, I guarantee that if munchack doesn't get the psu job that he will be an oline coach next.
