If you didn't know it would be irrelevant and stupid before you walked into the theatre, you don't watch will ferrel movies. It's kinda his thing. It's not been to be an academy award winner just funny. I enjoyed it.
Saving Mr. Banks: 8/10 I think the film probably would be a 9/10 if not for Colin Farrell's terrible acting. It seemed like a variation on the King's Speech, which I know some did not enjoy.
Holy ****, I have to completely disagree with you, sir. The Graduate gets like a 16/10 at worst. It's a landmark of editing that to this day has yet to be surpassed- maybe equaled, but not exceeded. It's one of the most iconic and imitated movies ever made- the shot through Mrs. Robinson's legs, the moving walkway at the beginning (e.g. watch the beginning of Jackie Brown), the underwater scene, etc. And this was truly the first film in which a soundtrack was as integral a part of the movie as all the other elements- I guess you could say ushering in the use of modern music- and that it used the same artist throughout. Seen now, I supposed that's why you rated it that way. In context, it's one of the top 5 films of all time IMHO.
American Hustle - 7.5/10 Honestly wasn't liking it a whole lot for a while, but the last third or so of the movie really picked it up for me and I ended up enjoying it. Not as good as I was expecting, but well worth the watch. Acting was top notch all around, especially Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale.
Lone Survivor, 5/5 - Most gut-wrenching movie I've ever seen Out of the Furnace, 5/5 - Fantastic acting, and a story that ends as it should Gravity, 5/5 - Gripping and awesome Prisoners, 4/5 - Really great flick, although I figured out the ending Don Jon, 4/5 - Strong debut from JGL, dragged on a bit Runner Runner, 2/5 - Wasn't terrible. Affleck was awful, JT was alright. R.I.P.D., 1/5 - It has a few funny moments, but for the most part is a sad M.I.B. ripoff.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, 6.5/10 Closer, 7/10 The Wolverine, 6.5/10 Ladykillers, 3/10 Warm Bodies, 2/10
This Is The End: 10/10 (Hilarious. Every actor compliments the other. Lol Channing Tatum cameo) The World's End: 3/10
Lawrence of Arabia - 10/10 such an epic! I would have kept watching it if it was another 2 hours longer.
Anchorman 2 - 7/10 The Secret Life of Walter Mitty 6/10 Both movies were quite a bit better than I expected.
Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones - 6.5/10 Surprised by this one. Kind of got dragged to it but actually ended up being pretty enjoyable. Didn't follow the formula that the first 4 have followed and also had one of the more clever endings I've seen in quite a while. Really wasn't all that scary, but I had a good time with it, surprisingly.
47 Ronin - 6.5 I really want to like it, but I can't get over the dialogue. I wished the actors/actresses would just speak Japanese and give us subtitles than forcing them to speak English. It was way too forced and I couldn't take it seriously. Very difficult for me to feel attached to characters and their deaths didn't really do much for me either. The dialogue was very shallow... something that I think could have been easily fixed had they just spoken friggin Japanese. Better everyone else speak Japanese and Keanu speak crappy Japanese than everyone speaking crappy English and Keanu being the only fluent one. However I understand that many of the "Japanese" characters are Chinese or some other mix. But other than that, the story and action was enjoyable. Would have given it an 8 had it not been for the above problems.
Blackfish - 7/10 Very informative, but not overly compelling in my opinion, but that's partly because it was pretty obvious that sketchy things went down at SeaWorld, so it really wasn't all that eye opening for me. But still a good watch, nonetheless.
Captain Phillips - 8/10: Love true stories like this. Well made, gripping. We're the Millers - 7/10: been a while since I've laughed this much at a movie Rush 6/10 - Had promise, and I really enjoy movies that bring to life true stories and characters from a different era, but as I understand it, thius was way off the mark. Lauda and Hunt were closer in real life than this movie portrays. The Pianist - 8/10. I don't particularly like Adrien Brody in this, and the movie seemed to depict a laundry list of horrors endured by Jews in WW2 Warsaw. But of course, this movie was based on an autobiography, so sadly you know that they only had time to fit some of them in..... Django Unchained 6/10: Even for Quentin Tarantino this is a bit much. Christoph Waltz is just awesome.
