While I'm sure the Rockets are frustrated with Asik, they still respect him a lot. They lost all respect for Royce after he cursed out a Rockets team employee.

Plus Asik has never publicly criticized the franchise on social media and via interviews.

If Asik is a headcase for the Rockets, then Royce White was like hemorrhoids.

Eh, even with JUST the criteria of defense, I'd take Tyson Chandler, Dwight, Marc Gasol, Joakim Noah and Roy Hibbert over him. He's not even top 5 defensively. Clutchfans overrates him cause he gave it his all last season, but realistically, the dude isn't nearly as good as we make him out to be. Top 15 NBA center for sure though. Not saying much though.

for the money he is being paid, he should just play the game. but everyone has pride and he feels he should start. we could really use him though. bad situation. I blame howard and asik, they should both be able to knock down 15 footers.

Asik was 1st in rebounds last year based on mins played. He was 2nd to Dwight because Howard averaged more mins.

Asik elite rim protector because of his of his pick and roll D, rim protection, and ability to cover mismatch once a switch happens.

Asik is better defender than Howard, don't let the blocks fool you & asik doesn't take plays off like him

Freak, my point is this... Right now no side is winning, but Asik is losing more by not playing.

Yes he has his money, but the object is to play for the next contract and you can't do that by not playing. He can't sell himself for the next big contract and it's hard to come back when you miss a year.

So yes he will get another contract but it want be what he would have gotten if he would have just honored his current contract.

I want to believe he is still hurt, but at this point I'm sure it's more of a hurt ego. I can't find a reason why intentionally not playing, benefits anyone.

asik is 7ft so if he's laying down he can cover about 4-5 chairs for warmth and comfort

I'm in the shoulda swapped for Lee, Bass, and pick group lo. Lee would've shored up our bench and he can guard those bigger pgs like westbrook and rose.
Bass is solid pf and we all know about moreys draft magic. all of this has already been said though soooooo.

Speak for yourself. You are absolutely wrong about Asik. He is stealing money right now. I hold him in contempt. I want winners on my team, not entitled brats who are happy to cash their checks, but only compete on their terms. Shame on Asik and shame on you for defending him.

Melo put up 25/8/45% shooting before traded to the Knicks.
Howard put up 21/15/3 and led the league in rebounding his last year with the Magic before injured.
Kobe put up 32/6/5/46% the year before Gasol got there.
Asik purposely refused to play hard and sat out games he was fully healthy for.

One is not like the others.

You may as well put DWill in Asik's category of unprofessionalism. Coach-cancer. I can't believe some in Houston actually want that guy. One of the worst attitudes and injury prone.
As stated by the other poster, Lin has a right to be upset also as he's been shafted more times by the team than even Omer but he's too damn passive. He's even passive on the court which is pretty irritating to see. He needs to man up on and off the court.

Pek can't Play D to Save his life, I would Not pick Drummond over Asik right now we saw how Howard raped him(but if I build for the Future I would) Davis is a PF and Chandler and Lopez(I assume it is Brook )are injury prone
Anyway I feel for Asik and hoped he would be traded and I doubt he will give his best anymore for the Rockets.

Your way of thinking is too funny. According to you every player should throw a tantrum when benched or when their team signs a star?

There would be 4 lockouts in 5 years. Half the players on teams would not want to play. Anarchy. Well good way of thinking.

Melo, Howard had played 7-8 years in the league.
Asik played one year as a starter and already thinks he can conduct himself like a star?

This type of thinking is succinctly described as "inmates run the asylum". I do think that's how a lot of people want the NBA to be (or think it already is?).

If so, he is the biggest non-superstar douche in the NBA history. Exactly why is he so unhappy? Because he gives up his spot to Dwight Howard, the best center in the league.

No one here knows whether he is really injured or not. We do know that club says he is injured and that Jonathan Feigan says he saw that his knee was indeed swollen. I tend to believe that what Feigan reported is accurate and that Asik is injured. It would only help Asik in his desire to be traded if he were on the court and playing well, so I don't know why he would be faking an injury. But I don't have any real first hand knowledge, just like everyone else here.

100% wrong. Asik is doing himself no favors. Because he's acting like a twit, GMs are trying to low ball Morey, and Morey would rather jump off a bridge than get the worse end of a trade. If Asik had played along, GMs might have not been as greedy, which would make trading him much easier and more likely. Asik's pout fest is achieving the exact opposite of what he desires.
